Not a disagreement as such just a young guy who spoke to me in a manner that I wasn't happy with and was "stunned" that I was going to cancel my order. He even laughed and when I asked what was so funny he replied "you're cancelling" When I went to the Ashford dealership, I was told £45k and the car would be available in the first half of 2019. This guy at Sidcup then said "no no no, £50k and the first years tax whatever that will be" I also mentioned that after a lot of thought I wasn't happy with the BMW engine and gearbox having owned until very recently a 3 Series with that 8-speed gearbox which I really don't like. We also discussed the possibility it may be a 2.0 entry level engine at that price to which he had no idea. I thought about leaving my deposit in for a while to see what happens but cant be bothered with all the uncertainty and speculation. It's not exciting, its annoying and boring. So I'm now in the process of buying an Exige.
I’m leaving my deposit in as a punt in case it turns out to be excellent, and I do really want it to be, but I suspect it won’t be for me. Something about the whole proposition doesn’t feel right, and it’s been overpromoted so now I’m bored of it over 6 months before it even gets to a test drive. I also note that at 50k it’s dangerously close to my old F type which I adored, so it’s going to have to be something really special...Edited by Venturist on Friday 21st December 18:05
What I do know is: Auto only, 3.0 only, 3-4 trim/spec levels, Official reveal Detroit in January.
Rumours: 4 cylinder option, price starting with a 6, deliveries end of ‘19
Leaving my deposit in with the hope that there are a few nice freebies along the way, and the car is worth the hype.
If not, im going to swap the £ onto an M2 Comp, or a Cayman.
But i have a sneaky feeling with only 300 coming to the country, and this launch being dragged out for so long - it might be a little bit special.

Has anyone started a sweepstakes yet of how long after launch before someone's 2JZ swapped a new one?
Rumours on the Supra forum they are going to release a 4 pot version which is being set up to receive the 2JZ - lot of people seeming to want to do it.Yup more I've seen of it the more I dislike it, for me should be slightly bigger (maybe more presence) and not have so many BMW parts especially the interior. I am aware that development costs are astronomical today but I'm sure Nissan wouldn't still be selling GTR's and 370's if it wasn't profitable, though I guess the price point of the GTR is very different to the Supra and gives that car more room to be individual.
If it drives well then maybe this first version will sell well then the next one can be more Toyota.

Have most people cancelled their deposits on this. I dislike the car underneath but value the supra name, so conflicted ?? .
I did, once the specs and pricing were released I found it underwhelming as an offering, for the cash they’re asking you could have a 6-pot F-type for example, which does everything far better for me and I suspect most people; you’d have to be really fixated on handling performance to go with the Supra I reckon - assuming it actually lives up to the hype there in the end anyway. I looked at the F-Type, the V6 with around the same power as the Supra is £56,600 base cost, the R-Dynamic pack takes it to £60,300 before other options. The Jag does have the edge on looks, but for driving it'd be the Supra (or A110, Cayman or M2) every time. Edited by SunStorm on Tuesday 9th April 20:33
When I looked into the possibility of buying one, the pre launch photos were somewhat different to the ones we now see. It actually looks more like a replacement to the GT86, much smaller, different interior and exterior not as Batmobile as was originally portrayed. Take a look at these two pics. The one at the bottom is the car I left a deposit for, the one at the top is why I cancelled it.
