Tyres make or break the car IMO.If it doesn’t already have good tyres, even if they have good tread, swap them. I’d recommend Goodyear f1 assy 5 or the new 6. The 5 should be a bit cheaper now the 6 is out.
They don’t do them in 195/45/17 but 205/45/17 is an improvement anyway and they don’t cause any problems - no rubbing, Speedo is more accurate.

Personally I'd stay to the tyre size suzuki put on. I have with mine, I'm running whatever the latest continental sport version of what it came with is.
I dabbled with some cheaper tyres and definitely noticed lack of grip in winter. I cannot fault the continental or the standard tyre size.
It does like to eat them mind !

I have no intention of replacing my OE Continentals with the same.

I intend to switch to Goodyear asymmetric in 205/45 when the time comes. 205/45 has a much better choice of quality tyres.
I might squeeze 30k out of the original tyres.

I’m also very reluctant to buy anything German at the moment. If I knew it was made in Russia I absolutely wouldn’t buy it.https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportat...

Besides that the 195/45/17 Continental option is well out classed by a number of tyres now.
I really dislike the feel of 195/45 on the rough roads I have to drive on. They give a really harsh, brittle feel which doesn’t suit the rest of the car. It’s a marginal change but 205/45 will also protect the wheel a bit more, they are quite prone to bending.
I'm on my second set of Goodyear Assymetric 5. They are in 205/45/17 and perform great. I even use them on trackdays. I would not stick to the original size. The number of tyre options is low. Whilst the other tyres choices may be good, Michelin and Goodyear are always tops on tyre tests. Buy Goodyear or Michelin, depending on who offers the best deal.
Hey
I recently got a 2013 Sport and theres a minor 'issue' im facing, perhaps someone else has felt it before and there could be a simple solution to fix it.
I found the stereo sound to be super tiny so i increased the bass a bit. In few seconds i felt the speakers already giving up and the volume wasn´t even that high, so i leaned forward to try to investigate where the problem was coming from and figured out all the bass sound is only directioned to a fraction of the cockpit : close to the steering wheel theres a LOT of bass frequencies but as i recline my head back to my driving position, the sound becomes supper tiny again, which comes down to the fact the lower speaker position / door card is poorly engineered sounding wise.
I understand this difference in sounding vs sitting position is usual on all cars, but i feel the in little suzuki the difference in abysmal.
Is there any way to fix this design issue?
regards

Just wondering if these M16A engines are known for using oil? I've done just over 1000 miles in mine now so thought I'd best check the oil lev as I hadn't since buying it. Good thing I did as it was on the minimum, luckily I had some 0w-30 fully synthetic in the shed from a previous car, it probably took almost a litre of that.
The thing is I can't remember where it was as it was just a cursory glance when buying it, but it seemed lower than I would have expected.

I have two, one is lowish mileage but the other is over 50k miles. Neither use any oil between services. The thing is I can't remember where it was as it was just a cursory glance when buying it, but it seemed lower than I would have expected.
I previously had a 90k mile one with sketchy history which didn’t use oil either.
They are quite sensitive to being checked on the level and can move a 1/4 on the dipstick even on a very slight slope in my experience.

Anyone else find their CB mpg way too off?
Tried 2 full tanks, pumping 41l both times, CB shows 40mpg but car only ran about 300 miles each time, which is ~32.5mpg.
It is a bit disappointing since I'm averaging 37/38 mpg in my MK8 Fiesta ST for the same driving routine.
Car has 11k miles and spark plugs changed 9k miles ago. 1 fill was 95 oct, other was 98, made no difference apparently.

See page four of this thread. 32.5 mpg does seem low though.Tried 2 full tanks, pumping 41l both times, CB shows 40mpg but car only ran about 300 miles each time, which is ~32.5mpg.

My computer shows 46 - reality is 37. They are really poor on fuel for a light 6 speed n/a. I got a genuine 47mpg long term from a 1.7 Puma on exactly the same roads I drive my Swift. - 30% better. Very similar cars for engine size, power and weight.
having said that 32mpg is a bit on the low side unless you are ragging it in 'town'. Worth ruling out the rear calipers binding, which is a well known issue.

well, how can i check that? I would smell brakes right? Also, in full acceleration, i hear kinda of a very subtle hissing sound, checked the intake and all is tight, i guess it is normal?
I've never driven a similar car, they are pretty rare around here, so i don't know how it should perform. It is really slow compared to the fiesta, but i was expecting that (135hp na vs 200hp turbo)
It is reasonably quick till 80mph but 4th gear and upwards it is really gutless. Topspeed really is a struggle, cant go over 115mph.

Touch the rear discs, carefully, after a gentle run. They should be warm but not too hot to touch and equal side to side. If one side feels a lot hotter than the other that's a good indication its sticking. Or after you've used the brakes hard the car won't roll off a slight slope. Also, in full acceleration, i hear kinda of a very subtle hissing sound, checked the intake and all is tight, i guess it is normal?
I've never noticed a hissing sound.
My dash says 45mpg but calculated tank by tank it is around 36mpg, I did 1 tank on 97ron and that came out at 37 mpg so not enough to justify doing it all the time, possibly did feel better low down but equally just as likely that's just in my head.
I'm slightly disappointed, thought I'd be hitting closer to 40 mpg on mainly country lanes, they are quite hilly though which won't help with so little torque you do have to wring it's neck to make progress.

Well, i've done some 10+ miles trips and rear wheels were cold to the touch, did also a bit of spirited driving and they were equaly warm as result. I guess its not the calipers seized.
Sometimes the car would do very subtle misfires when idling with a bit of a gentle tapping sound. Like i said, i have no other car to compare and bought the car already used so i cant really figure out if is anything wrong with the engine. I feel it a little slow and thirsty but i guess it's the way it is.

Has anyone changed the gear knob on theirs, I've come from an MX-5 so the shift doesn't come close on the swift. I know you can replace the rubber bushes on the shifters as they wear out over time so maybe worth doing this at the same time.
Can anyone recommend something readily available that offers an improvement over standard?
