I freed off the brake disc retaining bolts yesterday. When I replaced the factory front brake discs on a 12 year old Nissan Note I had to drill the bolts out. My ZC32S is 9 years old, and the brakes (and tyres) are original, so I thought I'd better check if they could be undone.
I nearly destroyed the first bolt head with my Bosch impact/driver, so persevered with WD40, an old mechanical impact screwdriver and a hammer.
The front bolts required repeated persuasion before coming loose. The rear bolts didn't want to come out. I know some mechanics use heat, so I did the opposite and tried freezer spray followed by more persuasion. That did the trick.
I'd like to replace at least four of the six bolts. I think they are 02122-0612A, and the spare parts tax applies. They're m6x12mm, I think with an 11mm diameter head. Does anyone know where I can source reasonably priced replacements? Closest I could find is a Honda part 93600-06014-0H, which I think is 14mm long but otherwise identical. I didn't think to check the hole depth through the brake disc and hub.

None of that makes sense.I nearly destroyed the first bolt head with my Bosch impact/driver, so persevered with WD40, an old mechanical impact screwdriver and a hammer.

Each disc has a retaining Phillips head screw. Four in total. Where are the six "bolts" you want to replace?
The retaining screws don't do anything useful. I think they are mainly there for assembly in the factory to stop the disc falling off when the car moves down the production line. You can just keep the disc in place with a wheel bolt while you fit the caliper and after that the disc isn't going anywhere.

Two on each front disc, one on each rear disc. A couple of the impact driver bits fitted really nicely, none of the Phillips screwdrivers and bits that I had to hand fitted nicely. I wondered if they are actually JIS and not Phillips heads. Each disc has a retaining Phillips head screw. Four in total. Where are the six "bolts" you want to replace?
I might fit TorX when I replace them. It won't matter so much if they're installed with a smear of copper grease.

Retaining screws belong in the bin, since i got the car I have never fitted them they are just a pain in the backside.
Yup. It’s madness that he wants to refit any, never mind two on each front disc. I keep a m8 bolt in my toolbox for pushing off the disc when I need to change them. They are so tight on the hub it’s that or a hammer.

Does anyone have any idea how to change the temperature reading on the centre console to °C instead of F? Cant see anything obvious to do it!
Handbook says press and hold the trip then turn the other stalk next to the trip. However, on mine I need to be in Range (via the right 'trip' stalk) first.

Ok, so happy enough with where the car is now. Only minor mods in the last few months, but I’ve got a rear silencer put back in to combat the drone, and have had the calipers painted blue.
If I’ve had a few drinks and squint a bit I can pretend I have a budget GR Yaris
Now’s the time to stop as the whole point was to save some
£ per month over getting something else. Might post some pics once it’s had a wash.

Morning
Looking for a bit of knowledgable help here if possible.
I bought a 14 plate SSS, 1 owner 31,000 miles, a couple of weeks ago online and when delivered the brakes were “long”. I got it booked in to my local Suzuki dealer for a check over, major service and they suggested brake fluid change to sort the brakes which I had done.
However the brakes were still long so I took it back to them to sort and to also change the water pump belt which they thought would be a good idea to do.
That was last week and the brakes are still really long so have it booked in elsewhere as Suzuki have had two chances to sort this and failed both times. Has anyone had this and, if so, what sorted it?
I’d like to go in to the new garage I’ve booked in with with some idea of how to resolve this as Suzuki apparently bled the brakes last time it was in there. It’s also making a screeching noise now on start up so will get the “new” garage to look at the water pump belt too.
I won’t be going back to the main dealer again……any insight greatly appreciated!

Good plan. They fleeced you on the belt and didn't even fit it properly.I'd say there is a good chance they either didn't do anything with the brakes or what they did do was useless.
These cars don't have long brakes but if you have come out of something over servoed they may not feel as sharp as others.
Does the brake feel get better when you have used them a bit? Reason for asking is someone may have put track biased pads in which need some heat to work.
If the discs are lipped it may be worth going for new discs and pads and you then know where you are.
The only brake issue these tend to have is the rear calipers binding.
Thanks for this and the car I had before was an FK2 CTR and thought I might just be thinking the brakes were long as the CTR’s were really strong.
However I did take it to a brake specialist, after the main dealer experience, and he thought initially that having come from the CTR I was comparing apples with pears but he took it for a drive and said no they’re long. I would have booked in with him but he’s booked till December but he thought it could be ABS pump or sticky calliper.
Suzuki say the discs and pads are good and no even with use they don’t get any better, maybe even longer.
Having read through this thread it sounds like the rears can be problematic so hopefully that will help with the garage in the morning.
Thanks Again
