Ticking over nicely here…new front pads and discs and an AC re-gas a few weeks ago.

Still unable to trace the source of an engine bay rattle. Not chain-related as it‘s only audible when going over slightly rougher roads. Doesn’t appear to be front heat shield so will live with it for now.

Has anyone got a set of roof bars they want to sell or know the part numbers from Thule at all? I'm struggling to find anything & most wont post IF they bother responding to messages.
I couldn`t get my hands on Thule, more specifially on the fitting kit at all. So I settled for a set of Yakima S24 Flushbar + YKK567 - Yakima fitting kit: Yakima SmartFoot FP fitting kit no. K567. Fitting kit was still quite a pain to get, couldn`t find one in any of the European eshops, eventually got one from UK.

Had mine for just over a year now, love it to bits but it does like to test me. Partially bought it due to the huge amount of praise for reliability (mine must have missed the memo ). A few months into owning it something got sucked into the intake valves and stuck them open against the pistons (I suspect a bit of perished intake hose, the notorious elbow one). A few snapped valve cover bolts (made of military grade hardened steel it seems) added a new cylinder head to the shopping list. Got the head reconditioned and valve clearances done and everything back together but unfortunately a faulty head gasket had it all apart again, no issue - chuck a Suzuki one in, lesson learned, all works as good as new.

Had around 6 months of perfect driving, great fun in the Peak District roads and great for long motorway drives with the cruise control and 6th gear. Decided to treat it to an early oil change and fresh brakes all round a few days ago and in return the gearbox blows up on me. Lost 2nd gear and started spraying gearbox oil over the M6. Looks like a gearbox change this week smile anyone got a spare lying around?

Issues aside its great fun for the money, get the revs over 4.5k and its a blast to drive. Looking forward to getting mine back on the road (with a pretty much new drivetrain at this point!) beer

Sadly I sold my spare CHEAP the other week as I needed the room to a buffoon who wanted to fit it to his zc31 despite me telling him 7 times it will not fit. He drove 3 hours to collect it and took it.......

Hopefully its a easy fix.

Had the same intake hose go on me too. Was revving its nuts off idle. Was pretty clear what was going on!

I've started getting a strange knock at low speed, sounds like directly under the gear box. It doesn't happen all the time either. These things always creep up when I choose to spend money elsewhere too biggrin

If you were buying now, I will be in a month or so, to daily and occasional sprints.

Would you prioritise mileage over year?

They can take miles and do rust a bit on subframes if they aren't washed regularly and / or ideally rustproofed to some degree. So there are arguments both ways.

I'd pay more / the same for an older but lower mileage car. The z32 only changed over the series for the infotainment system so there isn't a better year to have. I don't rate the unit in the 2014 on models but some seem to like it. Its a minor consideration either way.

Agree with this, I swapped the Garmin head unit out on my wife's 2014 Nav model for a Pioneer Android\Car Play head unit...much better.

Even though it's only done 39k the underside looks crusty...will be for sale late September.

At least the headunit is a generic double-DIN size so easily swapped for something more modern.

Does anyone else have a problem with the nearside windscreen wiper being squeaky or is it just me? As in it doesn't run smoothly across the screen and judders/skips over the surface and makes a hell of a racket!

I had this issue a few years ago with some new Bosch wipers and then swapped them for some excellent but pricey PIAA silicone wipers which were spot on.

Now they've worn out and I've gone back to some new Bosch and the same problem. Are the OEM wipers curved to the screen like you get with some cars or are the Bosch ones just crap? I don't have a problem on the Volvo with the same wipers.

We've got two Swifts in the family and neither has an issue with wipers. I use Bosch Aerotwin. I do sometimes have a problem with the wipers skipping when its cold but think that's pretty common to all cars.

Worth cleaning your screen with a glass polish.

I was going to say this. I'm really anal about having a clear screen and wipers working well.

I use glass compound a few times a year and my Bosch wipers don't skip at all. FWIW I'm also using Polygard screen wash, which is concentrate and very good value.

I would first check that the wiper arm is on tight, with no play at the spline.

Then I would clean the screen and compound it with Soft99 Glaco Compound, CarPro Ceriglass or Bilt Hamber Re-View. Don't bother with the Autoglym stuff. Glaco Compound comes with a decent pad on the bottle and Ceriglass can be bought as a kit with an applicator. I use a rayon pad on a velcro puck style hand applicator and get good results with a bit of elbow grease.
Once finished the screen should be clear of water spots and mineral stains and completely hydrophilic (no water beading whatsoever).

I find that rain repellent causes wipers to drag and skip, but a good compound should deal with that.

Lastly, don't thoroughly clean the black stuff off the wiper blades. I think it's a graphite coating that helps them operate smoothly.

I need some help identifying cables and what was potentially plugged in here. When I bought the car, these cables were already there and I assume/am pretty sure it was for a Subwoofer set up which is simple, however what's been the problem is the white rectangular 9 pin plug. Most Subwoofer's at the moment have a 3 pin plug (found out and realised after purchasing one), after running it through ChatGPT it found that there was a subwoofer option on these with this specific 9 pin plug and the subwoofer would be under the named Kenwood for example, I guess similar situation to the Garmin Nav Unit.

Question is, does ANYONE know anything about anything to do with this, or is any good with audio stuff and under passenger seat subwoofer setups, I really want to sort and install one and want to use this setup since it's already basically there.

I have one of these in my S2000, wiring looks very similar.

https://amzn.eu/d/afJMkNb

The clear connectors sit next too each other on the sub and the 3.5mm jack is the remote control. There will probably be a yellow power cable hidden nearby, with a male bullet end that is positive power.

I can try and take a photo of mine, but it's tucked under the seat so may not be the best!

I just checked that listing and the little controlling twisting knob is literally the same as what I got tucked away in the glove box, looks to be the one the previous owner had then most likely.

Job done then smile

No issues with mine, I've had it for maybe 6 or 7 years. If that's of any use.

Would you be able to get a picture or two of your cables and connections? Just trying to figure out what I may be missing from the original wiring, and what I'd need to trace back to behind the Radio Unit.

Sorry can't really get to it without removing the passenger seat...iirc the only things that go back to the head unit are the phono leads, a quick Google returns this though...

Got mine yesterday.

14 plate, 1 owner, 45k miles, old lady, dealer serviced and history, sold by them both times, that dream second hand car your mate gets!

Only odd thing is straight ahead steering is heavy even on move, also very slightly off, will get a proper alignment done soon.
