Hey everyone, I was wondering if you could help me try establish what direction I should be heading with my little side project I started recently as I'm a bit tone deaf to what's popular in the wider JDM culture outside of Evos.

I've basically started making little metal enamel pins (I started with my car)...

then did an Evo 3 (told you I like Evos).

What I wanted to know from you Pistonheads is, which models of cars would you want to see if you were to buy one of these?

I've got a Tommi Makinen, R34 GT-R, R32 GT-R and Subaru Impreza in the works but I don't know where the big followings are nowadays. Any and all help appreciated!

I stopped paying attention after about 2003. Nothing that exciting seems to be coming out.

I had to google what a Pao was smile See, the cube looks like something that could have a cult following and that never occured to me!

The Evo is very good, you've really captured the character of the shape despite the necessary distortion.

I think you've got the main 90s-era heroes. The other '276hp' grade cars are the 300ZX and 3000GT, but I'm not sure they have so much of a following.

I think a lot of people have owned some of the more accessible JDM cars, and may harbour some nostalgia for them:

Nissan S13 200SX, S13 Silvia, S14 200SX (S15 Silvia)
Toyota Celica (ST205 and 190), MR2 (AW11 & SW20)
Honda Integra DC2, Civic EP3 (?)
Mazda MX-5, RX-8

there are more owners & ex-owners of the above than GTRs and so on I think.

On the 'cute' side, the Nissan Figaro has been really popular in the UK, & I think has appeal outside the usual PH crowd wink

Honda Insight MK1. 1999-2006. Early rare UFO style Aluminium hand made hybrid that swept all before it in the mpg numbers game.

Honda S800 Coupe. Rare 1960's tiny revtastic screamer sports car that mostly all rotted away years ago. Very expensive nowadays.

I would imagine some of the more quirky small & kei cars have enthusiastic owners clubs who would love something like this:

Nissan Figaro
Daihatsu Copen
etc

Why limit to jdm.

Beetles
Camper
Classic 50s and 60s sportscars... The enamel pin ties nicely
Classic le man cars
Classic F1.
What about driver numbers
Helmet designs.

Also do a how to thread - curious as to where you'd even start.

Great business idea op.

ETA... Old trains and aircraft.

350Z has a large UK following. I’m sure if you put an advert up in the 350Z-UK there’s be takers. Might even be interested myself!
