In the right hands, a 22B will be quicker than any Porsche 993/996 (except GT2, GT3 and Turbo).

I have a P1 which is very similar to the 22B performance-wise and it'll anihilate most Porkers.

Watch out for wet weather handling though - unlike the P1 the 22B tends to be a bit, er, lively in the wet (bye bye road, hello undergrowth)

IIRC road tests concluded that Subaru had ruined the Impreza for Road use with the 22B due to its ridiculously hard riding suspension with next to no travel. Probably get left behind by a P1 in the real world, but imagine it might come into its own on a track.

Wasn't the speculation that the 22B produced around 320bhp? I think based on impressions of road testers rather than dyno figures.

There was such speculation, which was subsequently disproved by dyno figures. P1s tended to have both more power as standard (from dynos), and be more tunable.

Talking about tuning Imprezas - if you ever want to know what is about the maximum you can get out of any Jap car I always goto the Jun website:
www.junauto.co.jp
These lads are mad, also have a look at Norris designs website www.norrisdesigns.com

I will be running my 22B at G-Force in Aylesbury this Saturday. Will be interesting to see what power I now have.

It is a Subaru day and there are a few "interesting" cars going. Pop down and have a look. It starts at 09.00

Hi Tim. BTW your old wagon is still going strong. Was thinking of selling it before Le Mans this year but I just can't do it, yet ;-)

Cheers

Cool Mike, didn't know you were on here! We loved that car, such a wolf in Sheeps clothing!

Am I the only 22B owner on here? Have just spent ~4hrs trying to make it look nice(er) for tomorrow and now need a radox bath and 24 cans of Carlsberg export!

Anyone coming tomorrow?

Good to hear from you Mike

Didn't go as well as planned. Got 310bhp and 312 lb/ft torque because the car got too hot sat and it knocked the ecu back (failsafe device) a bit so didn't hit full boost. Got 1.3bar when it should have pulled 1.5!

Getting lovely pops and bangs with the new exhaust!

What exhaust are you running Tim? I've got my P1 standard exhaust and it's a little quiet - but on my last scooby I had the scoobysport back box which I found to be too loud & boomy for any sort of long distance work?

I have an exhaust without a name as yet! Its made by Hayward and Scott (who used to make all the Scoobysport stuff) and is 3 1/4" straight through designed by Pat Herborn from the 22b bulletin board to have no back pressure coupled with a decat 3" with a splitter mod. It is quite loud but was louder, I had to go back and get a custom mid silencer made. There is a picture of the car/exhaust in the "for sale" section of this site.

Jesus, you could stick your head in that.

Hmm, think I'll go a little more discreet
