Is that the closed deck version of the engine? i hear alot of the US guys are getting there engines re-sleaved and pushing them out to 2.6 or even 2.8 ltr! Is this not a good idea?.....

Its the closed deck block out of the Legacy 2.2 Turbo that was only sold in the US. Current price for a second hand block is around £1200.

We've had constant problems with headgaskets and liners dropping on the sleeved blocks.

i bet all that lot costs a serious amount of cash, id love 500bhp in my impreza but i expect it will cost much more than the car is worth just for the engine and then theres the gearbox, clutch, brakes, suspension.....etc etc, which all adds up to mega mulla.
If you sell you just strip parts to sell.
665bhp and 1200kgs is better power to weight than a veron, which shows how cheap it actually is despite cost and work involved just veron gets more chicks lol

Thanks for the info! are there T shaped sleaves avaliable? I only ask as the US guys used to have loads of problems with sleaves dropping in V8s. It came down to incoret machining and insterlation. also is it Darton that manufacture the sleaves?

Chris.

My 200sx has served me well for many years now but because of work I need to do some heavy mileage. My brother came up with the perfect solution, buy a cheap 2nd car to use on the motorway. Something smooth, comfortable, easy to drive and a bit of extra space for sprog transport. So here's what he recommended ...

4.0 litre V8 for just a scratch over a grand - can't say I'm disappointed smile

I have no idea how I got approval from the wife
