That's impressive. I once averaged a smidgen over 40 mpg in my old 528i over 200 miles.

Best I managed in my 335i on a run was 35mpg...

Although that was on the way to LeMans with all the kit in the car, 2 up and going a little (but not too much) faster than the limit with some full power overtaking on the single track roads from Rouen - great fun! Never did an out and out economy run, normally had the CC on at 85-90 day to day in the UK.

(although I did set off a french camera at about 150kph in a 70 zone (reduced for no reason and mid-overtake... - was worrying for a little while but heard nothing!)

I play the mpg game on M / long boring drives. Haven't yet managed to break the 40mpg barrier though frown

This was with a decent amount of traffic.

Normal day to day mpg is around 20-22.

Average in my E39 M5 is 21mpg with mixed town, country and motorway.

Can get 27mpg on steady 75mph cruise. Not that happens often!

I saw 35 on most runs sat at 80mph in the 335i, got from Chippenham to Norfolk one Sunday night in a little over two hours and still showed 33mpg.

Coming back from NEC one evening the M6, A14 and M11 was 70 all the way and it showed 39mpg.

I averaged 27 in it, the times when you really enjoy it bring the figures right down, but still a very good average and better than the 535d managed.

On a Long euro trip, I decided on 30mpg as average, and just trimmed the Cruise to suit, I found that 91 mph gives 30 mpg over 250 miles.

Bloody hell. My E91 330d (manual) is showing 35.6mpg average over the last 1000 miles or so, with no urban driving whatsoever.
E90 325i petrol and I'm pleased as I'm currently showing 25.9mpg and not the usual 22mpg! I need more motorway driving in my life biggrin

That's bloody good.

I get 42mpg from my 123d! Hence local job coming and a petrol to be bought. Was after a 335i, but going to give up on that and look at 330i or something else.
Hello buddy ,seems to be something dodgy about the 123d set up ie gearing.

My 20d 177bhp at 70 would give me around 50/54

Getting roughly 34mpg from my E46 325ti. Mix of A road and country lanes. Plenty of overtaking too driving

I got 37mpg from a E46 330d doing the same route. That had some overtaking too biggrin

That's impressive for a 300bhp petrol really. My 728i gets similar mpg at 70mph bit has just under 200bhp and smaller capacity. I did a 140 mile trip the other day with a few roundabouts at a cruise of 77 and got 34.6.
Official figures. You've got within inches of the unrealistic Extra Urban figure.Who says makers claims are not real world?
Urban mpg 17.1 mpg
Extra Urban mpg 35.3 mpg
Average mpg 25.4 mpg

Averaged 25mpg over 1040 miles on a european road trip, including 4 laps of the ring.

I'd say 90% of the mileage was motorway, with heavy stop and start traffic on m25 and autobahn near cologne.

2005 e46 M3 coupe.

When that was built though they were setting it up it to sit on the autobahn, not to get the best MPG figures like they do now.

Late at night, M1 pretty much empty. Time to get to grips with some speed? Well, yeah, kind off.

Chose to flick on cruise from Heathrow to home in Yorkshire at a steady 70mph. Not done this before but wanted to see if my N54 335i could do better than my regular 26.x mpg. Turns out it can, and by some considerable margin.

Anyone else done better?
Impressed with that Fellasmile. I picked my N54 335i up about a month ago and haven't been on a long run yet but have a 430 mile round trip coming up so it will be interesting to see what mpg I get with a small remap on it. I would be over the moon with anything close to that mpg after my old Cosworth and previous Evo's etc.

I belive the old figures were even more unrealistic.

What mpg are people getting from the 130i as it's on my list as finding 335i/330i is somewhat difficult..

I don't find the new figures that unrealistic.

I just find people are ignorant to how the figures are achieved.

Most drivers claim they are not realistic- what they actually mean is the extra urban figure. The other two figures most drivers easily beat.

Given all these stunningly good mpgs isn't it odd how the I5 Ford Focus ST owners seem to only able to get low 20's and apparently very pleased with it if they wanted an Eco box they would buy one.....
