It's been re-listed rather than sold. Would be interested to know why you say that - I know someone who might have been interested in it. survivalist said:

All these engines suffer from leaky valve stem oil seals unless they're changed. He may have had that done. I've had my car 3 years and they don't really bother me as it will only smoke if really hot and idling for a few minutes. I just turn it off in traffic on the motorway. I keep telling myself I'll do mine myself but it's not happened - yet!
Some of these engines can start to weep oil through tired gaskets. As you know new mot regs pick up on oil leaks. So he may have had new gaskets to prevent leaks. He does talk about leaks.
I had the gearbox oil changed in mine at about 95k as a preventative measure and my box feels lovely now. They're supposed to keep going if the oil is sound. So I'm not sure if you're really winning buying a car with a recon gearbox if the owner never changed the oil and that damaged it. Some people say that modern gearboxes are quite complicated and these refurb places don't really know what they're doing compared to the manufacturer.
That one on ebay is mine ATM. A recon gearbox, as far as I understand it, is quite a big job. I don't know the full ins and outs of it but AFAIK it involves changing all the clutch packs as well as replacing the fluids of course. So in terms of the wear and tear parts, it's quite close to being a new gearbox so should be good for another 100k+ miles.
It's had both rocker gaskets changed because they were both leaking oil a little.
Enough though to kill the alternator in the process, so that got replaced.
And the alternator seal changed because it also leaked... so much I had to get a friend to tow me to a dealer.
All this work was done at a main dealer by the way.
My reason for selling is because I'm commuting again and it's just too expensive to run now.
I'm happy to answer any questions about it, and I have all the receipts for the work done in my care. I think the SE is really the one to go for - it has more subtle styling and softer suspension which makes it a really relaxed cruiser.

Car broken
Well just the central locking blipper part of the key. So I have to use the actual metal key to lock or unlock. This means the alarm goes off EVERYTIME.
Also the seat kept going back to an annoying position designed to accommodate a dwarf. And the mirrors. And the steering column. I managed to stop this by fiddling with the idrive.
So any ideas lads?
I was assuming the key but it's a new key - well I bought it about 3 years ago after I lost the other key at a festival. I only have 1 key so can't try another.
I read somewhere that the receiver can break which I hadn't even considered.
Probably a faulty diversity module (under the rear spoiler and full of water).

My old SE is for sale for 4490. Surprised it hasn't sold at that price but then i guess I have the benefit of knowing the car well!
Hi Joss - I sold this in March. Didn't get any interest until I dropped the price to £3,500. chrisgeary said:
Not sure if the seller is on here; but unfortunately I spoke to him about the car and he came across as a complete cockA lot of bull in what he was saying IMO. The car sounds ok, but it's one you'd really need to see in the flesh too
His price has shot back up; it's been for sale since July and dropped to £6k; so why's he put it back up to £7.5k? If it's not sold and not getting interest, the price is too high, which this is, IMO
Just from my dealings with him on the phone; I'd personally stay away
