E61 V8 Bearding

Absolutely, they are fantastic cars.
Just a really good all rounder and it is a big step up from my old 530. I still get surprised by its turn of speed given it’s a heavy brute!
No major problems so far, I have sorted a couple of small niggles with a few more to sort. Really enjoying living with it!

The big v8 definitely makes the experience. The more you drive it the more you'll appreciate it. I find myself wandering what it would be like with a manual box but the auto is fine really. Mine is a bit hard at the front with its stiffer suspension so crashes a bit on potholes but when I do throw it around it stays quite flat. Compared to my rock hard 911 it still feels like luxury.
What tyres have you got on your big 19 wheels?

The V8 really does define the car. Very smooth when mooching about but if you want to get a move on it is very eager to rev, and is very fast.
Can't remember exactly what tyres they are, Michelin Pilot Sports of some variety. i think the ride is pretty good considering the tyre size, this might have something to do with no longer having run flats. Potholes and the endless speed bumps near where I live aren't too bad.
The good spec helps too, the Logic 7, adaptive cruise and head up display are all brilliant.
I am still very happy with it!
Edited to add: the auto I think is fine and I think suits it. Pressing the sports button keeps it in a low gear and removes any hesitation on kickdown

I'd echo the above, the auto box is pretty well-suited to the car, especially in estate guise and SE spec - just wafts around effortlessly but plenty of get-up-and-go when you want it. I re-flashed mine with the xHP software and it's pretty awesome now in sport and manual modes, nice rapid shifts and the shift points are spot-on. The throttle-blip on manual down-shifting is good fun as well
Hi All,
Sadly, the time has come to move on from my 2005 650 Sport. Purchased in 2011 on 48k miles and planned to keep for 4 years. I have had it for close to 9 years and mileage is now 200,400. Wonderful car. My question is on what is the value of it now.
Condition is very good for it's age. 90% motorway (270 mile trek to my customer)
It is dark blue with cream interior. No known issues and has been properly maintained at my BMW specialised.
Spec; active cruise, HUD, logic 7, upgraded exclusive leather (No wear on seat bolsters, but nice and soft).
Michelin PS4s on rear and newish Goodyear eagle 3's on front (michelin do not do PS4s for front).
Genuine new bmw discs and pads on rear this year as well as big service including spark plugs and a pair of genuine rear springs.
Valve oil stem seals done at 150k miles.
Drives beautifully, no squeaks or rattles.
I have every receipt of all work done and all parts were genuine BMW and oil has always been the correct Mobil 1. Car uses no oil between services. Gearbox oil was changed at 120k miles with filters. It changes smoothly up and down.
Only issue I am aware of is that the drivers heated seat cannot be used, as only a small part of the base heats up and it heats up very fast and gets very hot. Leather is not marked.
I would appreciate any guidance on value.

I'd go for 5k with a view to take a bit less. Cheapest 650i on AT is £3995. Or stick it on eBay and let the Eastern Europeans bid it up. A few have bought my old BMWs. Always been very good. The servicing will help. Many will have not had valve stem seals, so will be much worse.Sadly, the time has come to move on from my 2005 650 Sport. Love it you've smashed 150,000 miles on a 650i in 8-9 years. What are you replacing it with?

My first warning bong today: PDC not working. However it magically disappeared again a bit later and all appears to be well - parking sensors functioning as normal.
Hopefully just a one off
I've had that in my 3 series, it started intermittent and then eventually stopped working permanently. Hopefully just a one off

That add is cringeworthy. “Best colour combination”, “mostly motorway miles”, and worst of all “rapidly appreciating”Looks a lot of money to me

Did you get to the bottom of the cause in the end?
That 550i is in a good colour but the long list of equipment is largely just the standard equipment
'Fraid not. In the end the whole system packed up and before I got round to sorting it, the car was part ex'd.That 550i is in a good colour but the long list of equipment is largely just the standard equipment
It is likely to be either:
Faulty ultrasonic sensor;
Faulty wiring; or
Faulty module;
I think on mine it may have been the module as I could not hear the clicking from the sensors.

Heading down to Goodwood for the Sunday service this weekend. This thread https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... would suggest at least 2 PHer 550s and an Alpina
