Decided to return the manual rad. Then gonna try a simple retapping of threads before replacing the entire cooling system for no good reason.
Was it definitely the manual rad then? Frustrating. furious

Totally my fault

Easy mistake to make. frown

I double and triple check part numbers now, especially if I might end up supplying the parts to my mechanic to fix.

I've found Autodoc really useful for cross checking parts.

Just a word of warning - Autodoc's website isn't infallible.
They supplied what I thought were tailgate wiring harnesses against their part number.
Turns out they were door wiring harnesses.
It took me some time to discover this and they adamantly reuse to credit as "it's outside our normal return time" - well thank you very bloody much Autodoc but we ain't living in normal times!

A further update on Autodoc.
They indicate 5-7 working days delivery.
I have an order with them for front springs.
Its taken them 7 days to process the order even though they said were in stock.
Now somewhere in the vastness of their carrier's delivery system.
Given the debacle that's Brexit God alone knows when I'll receive them.
Amazon Prime they ain't.

Looks like my old e61 is back up on eBay. LF06ZTS.
Seems to have been cleaned nicely and someone has and added reverse camera. Only done 300 miles since I px’d it. Guess no one has been advertising or fixing the EML due to the knackered cats so probably has another owner or 2 since me.
If anyone goes for it, good car, but be warned the EML will stay off for 20-50 miles before coming on again. Likely to be knackered cats.

It's been up for sale for a good while too; and it's been up a few times on eBay also

For what it is; it's overpriced unfortunately; just trying it on with a V8 premium

Good spec though tbf. Heated seats + HUD + Sunroof.

Shame it's not a Sport, the kit really makes the E60/1 look a lot fresher. Also silver over grey leather is very dull.

That's the thing; it has that good spec; but the colour inside is miserable and it's an SE

That'll always go against it unfortunately and for me it's more of a £5-£6k car

As long as it's in fine fettle mechanically; at c£6k it'd be a cracking car, but you wouldn't want to spend more than that...

My old car.
Knackered cats. New block and pistons a few years ago though and new pads and discs just before I px’d it for very little money.
Has tailgate wiring loom properly fixed by Munich legends - new looms not the usual cut and shut wiring,

Broken Springs?
There seems to be an epidemic of broken springs.
On the Faceache forum there were, at the last count, 11 owners reporting broken springs, myself included.
Anyone else on here?

Seems to coincide with the very cold weather.
I think it must be a combination of age and extreme cold making them brittle.
No reported accidents though a few ruined tyres.
No wonder they're in short supply.

19th Feb Update :
Autodoc took 18 days in total to deliver a pair which were in stock.
ANOther forum now reporting 20+ broken springs.
Check your springs carefully guys.
Any sign of the coating having been compromised - change them!

IIRC one of the lads on the BMW E39 touring group owned this; he sold it for a lot less than that. Sounds like the current owner maybe trying to take credit for all the work that wasn't his

Can't be sure that it's definitely the same one, but sounds / looks VERY similar
