I'd have a go in one first. Yes they have more power but I'd hazard they're bigger too. I had an S4 a few years ago and didn't get on with it.

I was looking at them but Audis seem to eat gearboxes! V10 bork also scared me...

However, I will take another look when the 545i is up for replacement as I expect finding an NA 550i will be more than tricky!

It is essentially identical to mine! I love the leather colour - but I know that's a very subjective thing. The only difference is in fact the wheels - mine has the 124 style 18" wheels which I do prefer...

Apparently more reliable than the previous model (gearbox wise) and the engines don't have any particular issues - so it's a possibility.

Size - looks like 10cm longer and a few cm wider from Wiki

Some small and inferior v8. Probably from the BMW parts bin of unused engines.

Mine can't do that. My uppermost floor is one piece hinged near seat backs with gas struts - like the bonnet. Do you have a spare wheel well?

With hindsight, my question was a stupid one - of course it couldn't do both as the struts are in a completely different place.

I do have a spare wheel well (without wheel as it happens) but have the front strutted, gate-fold configuration. Seems odd that there were two varieties of strutted boot floor but it seems there are!
