Hey smashie how's it going?

What you driving now?

I've not really invested much time in the old girl recently. I want to check out the electronics in the boot. I'll do some basic checks then I might get a professional involved. We'll see.
Hey ATM.
Currently a 4.25T 3L diesel motorhome and a Nissan Leaf. Got the electric bug when I had a B!W i3 as a 2nd car to my 550. Now got electric as my main and love it. I’m not doing it for environmental reasons as although I would like to say I don’t give a st, that’s not quite true, but It’s very near the bottom of my list of reasons.
Ok nice.

I can't lie. The leaf looks like an ugly car to me. But petrol prices now definitely make you think when you see cars swallowing it constantly.

Wish I’d held off for the work salary sacrifice scheme to come into effect. Could have had an ioniq 5 for £20 more a month overall. Oh well 18 more months until I can change.
Couldn’t believe diesel costs. Cost me over £200 to go to Cornwall and back in the motorhome. Did it in the lead for around £20 last time. Prepared to put up with it’s looks for that saving. Also prepared to put up with having to charge adding extra time to the journey if I am saving over £80 each way.

It was legit. I'd been on a little run down the motorway for a couple of hours at 70 on cruise. I think my average was showing 25mpg. Then I brimmed the tank and saw 506 miles range but by the time my passenger managed to lean over and get a pic she had missed the magic 506 and it was showing 505.

Not much in the ad about condition or photos of the interior. It always amazes me how many people put up dreadful adverts when a little more time and effort could result in many more bids

Put the key in the ignition today and got nothing. Blipper unlocks and locks doors but that's it. Will have to jump it again and relocate nearer to the house to connect a charger.
Had this again yesterday. Put the battery on charge and my Lidl charger refused to work because it was showing less than 10v. So I broke out the old Halfords charger. After 3 hours I checked and it was showing charged. So I don't understand how a big battery can go from flat to fully charged in 3 hours. Therefore now I'm suspecting the battery is rogue. If it is then the car could be fine.

I've just bought one of these and thought it would be good for owners, almost owners and previous owners to have somewhere to get Bearding. Pic of mine

Just realised I've had this car for over 6 years now. Page 1 shows my first entry - quoted above - was July 2015.

Just coming up to 4 years for me. I usually get itchy feet and start looking for potential replacements by now but I've not been tempted once yet, they're such good all-rounders.

Mine is a fourth car now so doesn't see much usage. It probably costs me 60 or 70 quid a month to just have it there and I only use it a couple of times.

Little trip out today in the 550i. Brimmed the tank. Wasn't expecting it to cost that much. Range looks a bit optimistic. Driving slow for now....

The IBS system itself can also be a cause of a battery drain.
Exactly so by unplugging it I have isolated it as a cause. But the lazy start still persists. So perhaps I could plug this back in. But I may as well leave it unplugged because until I find the root cause I dont want a dead battery. My 3 quid Lidl Battery Charger does have lights for charging so I will check this when the car is running.
I now have the IBS plugged back in and the car is running fine. No warnings on the dash. It even remembers the time. Still only using a borrowed battery from another car so I need to buy one now. I may buy the other car a new battery and this temporary replacement can become permanent.

Just filled up again. Thought I'd check the MPG.

Bought 40.66 litres of Tesco 99 @ 149.9 per litre which was £60.95p.

I get 24.26 mpg running those numbers.

Another fill up.

Bought 57.44 litres of Tesco 99 @ 147.9 per litre which was £84.95p.

I get 26.83 mpg running those numbers.

These are not indicative of normal use as I was trundling up and down the motorway at a sensible 65mph. I wouldn't normally use the car for a longer trip like this but decided it needed a good run. And since lock down ended I am trying to be more social and actually go places to see people and do things. So I went to see England play Tonga. I also managed to get stuck on the M40 for over 2 hours on my return journey due to a traffic collision ahead of me which cost somebody their life. I was a bit disappointed that I hadn't done my usual trick of avoiding the motorway and heading cross country on actual roads. Lesson learned.

Another way to look at this is London and back cost me around £100 in Petrol. I also had 2 x M6Toll which I think is £6 or £7 depending on week day or weekend. So lets say £110 in total if we are being generous.

Ignition switch or the key recepticle is playing up on mine. I had to force it a bit to get the key out and now I have to force it a bit to get the key in. Result being the car does not recognise the key present and refuses to start.
