Compact, not a Coupe

25 mpg
Nasty grey interior

It's just another old BMW to most folk and not remotely desirable.
Nice to see some positive feedback. laugh

So Coupes are apparently ageless?!

25 mpg - WTF, my 325ti is showing 35.0 on the OBC!

Nasty grey interior - what planet do you inhabit? My 325ti interior is full of blackness - no grey in there! laugh

But I'm glad it is "just another old BMW" - that got me a bargain!

I'm sure that was in direct reply to why the Blue/Grey ebay one has been for sale for a while.

Coupe will be regarded a (modern) classic before compact.

I was talking about the Ebay car with grey interior.

Not yours.

Coupes were always more sought after than Compacts which, despite their virtues, were an ugly little runt. I don't mind them.

35 mpg average from a 325Ti eh? Wow.

Grey interiors are nasty, period. The lighter the grey, the nastier they are. Even beige is better.

I've got Montana Grey leather in mine. Loved it when I first got it, but the leather is hanging now. So hard to keep it in good shape!

Average 32.3 mpg on mine.

After a pair of rear msport compact 17" wheels if anyone's got any spare?
Looking to run a square set up on my car.
I have, it's a shame you didn't want them when I picked up the interior but if you happen to be up north for any reason I'm in Chesterfield and you can have them cheap...

I've popped in and out of this thread for ages now. I'm after something to keep me going until I get a new car in April, I fancied a E46 compact for a long time, so I'm going to look at one tomorrow with the view of chopping it in April time if I dont get on with it, or keeping it as a track slag if I like it.

You will like it. I liked it on the road and still ripped it apart for track. Almost want two for this reason.

Quick question. My boot only opens on the key fob, is this correct? As in if the car is unlocked and you try to open the boot with the release on the boot lid you still need to press the boot open button on the key fob? My number plate light holder where the boot release is located is black in colour and not silver like the rest of the car so something tells me it's been changed at some point...

The boot should open from the black button on the boot too.

With the vehicle unlocked the black rubberised button above the number plate should open the boot. Mine had failed when I bought the car - It turned out the micro-switch had broken free from the handle so when you pushed the button it moved the whole micro-switch but didn't activate the switch! I removed the handle from the car, disassembled and glued the micro-switch back in place (with superglue, not even araldite!) and its still working 5 months later.

I have a feeling lots of these will disappear soon to become track slags, not that I blame any of you! But the coupe will achieve 'classic' status long before these, if they ever do...

Thanks guys I'll take a look at the boot handle at so me point. Feeling confident as I did the dreaded "hedgehog" or final stage resistor today after much swearing. Blower fan now blowing once more smile

Just out of curiosity, what would a decent / good condition 325ti m sport manual go for / be worth in your opinion?
If I am right in saying, the SE is the same other than the m sport trim? Wondering if it is worth the extra to go from SE to m sport. wink

Not much in it really!

On 325tis both SE and Sport models got the "Sport" suspension and seats, so the only differences are styling and wheels.

Personally if looking now I'd be trying to find a facelift just for the 6-speed box - you can always change the wheels!

ETA Price wise they seem to be all over the place!

Autotrader currently has a 98K miles SE private sale for £1,795, a 111K miles SE trade sale for £995 and a 190K miles Sport private sale (apparently track ready) for £999!

To me! Thats the one I mentioned about going to view earlier biggrin

I picked it up last night so only owned it 24 hours or so but I'm enjoying it! It's a credit to your mate, very tidy, impressive for a 15 year old car. It was nice to view a car and it be honestly described too!
