I know that feeling so well!
The day after my service and CDV delete I got mine MOT'd. Only 4 advisories but it looks like I'll need new front discs, pads and flexi pipes for the next one.
So I spent a few days looking at possible replacements and could only really think of a 130i or possibly a 3 Series Touring. A decent 130i will cost me at least a few thousand more, and straight 6 manual petrol Tourings just don't seem to exist!
Might as well save my money for the work on my 325ti!

Forgot it needs caliper attention too as one is sticking - if only I had somewhere to do it! But even getting it done by an Indy you're right, it will be much less than a 130i (and I don't really trust a car with an electric water pump and no temperature gauge)!

I replaced a front caliper at the side of the road on a friends 320td. Fortunately he had a trolley jack and axle stands in the boot, and we found a quiet road. I feel like I have done so many now it's an under half an hour job wheels up to wheels down.
Until you change one and the hose dont park/index in the right position (twisted) then you need to shift the hose round also but yes not a long job in reality with nothing more than gravity bleeding necessary I had CCV done at stealer, they were amazingly competitive on price vs independents plus I get the genuine parts and two airbag recalls done at the same time. Must be a nasty job, one indy in Reading quoted £700, they clearly did not want to do it!
I had the traction control light flashing away while accelerating at full throttle from 50mph in 5th this morning and it got me wondering about winter/M+S tyres, what's the consensus, anyone running M+S tyres over the winter?

They was taking the piss CCV system using genuine parts is no more than 2 hrs on the go slow with tea breaks 300+ vat all in inc parts absolute tops why are people so bloody greedy? and yes I am on the tools I had the traction control light flashing away while accelerating at full throttle from 50mph in 5th this morning and it got me wondering about winter/M+S tyres, what's the consensus, anyone running M+S tyres over the winter?

I run mine on a square set of 16s with Michelin Alpins over the winter, but to be fair the last 3 winters haven't really been that cold! (Probably mainly because I put winters on). Saying that I've never really had traction issues when running the standard staggered 17s that come on a Sport - my Z4Coupe on RFTs on the other hand tends to light up the dash like a Christmas tree!

I think I am going to go for the following, as there seems to be a lot of snapped M3 strut brace brackets on ebay sometimes!https://www.dcperformance.co.uk/cheap/1174785/BMW/...
I just bought a 325ti and it's sitting on new Goodyear Ultragrips (By Marks and Spencer) on 16's. These are pretty good in dry conditions as well. Just as some Dunlop and Fulda wintertyres. I never buy M&S tyres that only work in wet/winter conditions. In March roadlegal semis will be put on 17's.
Mine is an early example (June 2001). SE with blue interior, sunroof and 5speed. Driven 400km so far and loved every single moment so far.

I'm Dutch, but the car was delivered in June to a car dealership in Germany (near the Bodensee in Bayern). Production date is early May. The BMW E46/5 325ti was homologated in March.
The introduction of the 325ti was in June 2001 in Germany and The Netherlands. In the UK the introduction took place in August.
