Does anyone know if generic E46 coilovers fit the compact too?
Still toying with the idea of either springs or coils

I think so.....we now have HSD coil overs off an E46 M3 on our 325ti (though of course someone who knows what they’re doing fitted them!)

Probably about half way through a machine polish on mine.
Jesus christ it's long and arduous, sort of wishing I never started but Its been overcast since I started.
I'm sure I'll think differently when it's in the sun.

Hi all,

A long shot, but a friend and I are meant to be doing a few days driving in Wales this weekend. The weather is not looking great at my 325ti is on Nankang NS2-R's which are not really suited to wet weather driving. We may cancel the trip, but if the weather improves I will need either a new set of tyres or wheels and tyres.

Does anyone have anything sat around with decent rubber, in Hampshire or Surrey which is available for 'hire' or purchase?

Otherwise, I am looking at Uniroyal Rainsport 3's for £200-230 the set (plus fitting).

Thanks

Mr Tidy

Hi Max,

I'm just over the Surrey/Hants borders in Berkshire - I bought a couple of bits from you when you stripped your Compact.

Shame I don't think I can help - I've got a set of CSL reps that are 8J x 18 with ET35 but they've got tyres of a brand I've never heard of and 2 are down to 2mm tread. But if you think there may be something we could arrange to save you getting tyres swapped and then swapped back please E-mail me. thumbup

The only other wheels I've got are 17" E90 ones with run-flat winters - even in Wales I don't think you'll need them. laugh

Cheers, Iain.

I remember! Spotted you in the barge thread which I also frequent having an E39 and previously a 'thread known' 190E.

Anyway, I ordered the Uniroyals and I'm hoping I can get them and fitted by Friday. Lets see..

I hope you can get them fitted in time for a good drive in Wales! thumbup

I only bought the CSL reps as they were at a price I couldn't refuse and had non-runflats on them, so I can see how different they are to the run-flats on my Z4!

Cross-posting from the barge thread, but my entry here. 5-speed SE with grey interior, it's a great colour combo.

Very impressed so far, particularly with how easy most service items are, it's clearly been designed with some thought to how it comes apart. Bought as a project to bring up to snuff. It now drives pretty well, but I suspect it needs the clutch doing. Any recommendations with regards SMF conversion, or just throw a new clutch on the DMF?

I’d leave the flywheel and just do a clutch.

Sold my 325ti last week, immediate and massive sellers regret, especially as it went to the first viewer and I had 3 other people leaving their numbers, should have asked more... I have no idea what I'm going to replace it with even with an extra grand or so I've got aside.

Tsk...

I was sorely tempted by an Imola Red facelift that has just gone on AutoTrader for £3,500 - it's an 05 plate and has done less than 34K miles!

But I'm liking my E90 330i too much. rolleyes

I'm not sure, the coupe maybe, but I don't think the hatch is a nice looking car from any angle.

I had a hankering for a convertible but the weather's changed again. I'm thinking of a scabby Alfa Brera or maybe an E36 convertible.

There you go then, a 130 convertible - seems ideal and they’re just as cheap as the coupé

Well it will have to be a 125i for a Coupe or Convertible, because for some reason BMW decided to restrict the 3 litre N52 in them to 218 bhp! rolleyes

Still the good news is firms like Evolve can offer a map that'll round up most of those lost horses! (The 130i has 265 bhp).

I miss mine a lot. I miss driving generally but the 325Ti is such a decent drive, luckily they didn't sell them here so at least I am not reminded of it too often!
