Am looking at 62 / 13 plate E71 X6's, either 3.0d or 4.0d versions. The prices are fairly evenly distributed but I've noticed that the real differentiators are the options.

Does anyone have a good buyers guide to this series of X6? Any owners and real-world experience?

Any options that are a must-have? Currently, my ideal spec is

white / carbon black / sapphire black
Black interior (nevada seems more hard wearing)
sport seats
3rd rear seat
Reversing camera with top view
<40k miles
£30k budget

Sunroof I can take or leave but would appreciate if it makes a difference

The rest is pretty much standard, pro-nav, bluetooth.

Should I look for one with Dynamic Pack?
Should I look for one with Media Pack (not sure if that was standard though)

Anything I need to look out for? Any help / advice appreciated

Luke.

Head up display.
Heated steering wheel.
Heated seats.

Wouldn't be without any of those in my X5.

HUD wasn't available as an option on this model, just introduced on current line up. Same as the heated wheel. Heated seats as standard. Reverse camera is a must for me, ideally with the Top View

Comfort seats come with Nappa leather option only. I've now seen 2 with the nappa and they don't wear well at all. I don't know if I've just been unlucky or it's the norm but 3 year old cars, nappa is looking a bit saggy and loose and the bolsters are a little flat, though the full 18 way adjustment is pretty special

This is a cut and paste from the ad and am aware a lot of these are standard but overall, what's the opinion.

Car is metallic grey with just under 32k on the clock with service inclusive until December 2018 / 50k miles and £29k

Based on what I've seen, it's an epic spec for a price that seems comparable with other cars. This is from a main dealer. What could I push for? Am going to ask for an extra year warranty / mats / tank of fuel as I don't think they'll take too much off the headline price

I've got HUD on my 2007 X5. Along with all the other things I mentioned.

You could try haggling on price maybe?

6 months ago, I got a 40D with all spec above plus a bit more (dynamic pack, heated steering wheel, detachable tow bar - £58k total price inc options) Now mine had 56k miles on it, but it was October 2013 car bought in October 2016 for £26.5k. I paid a further £300 for a 2nd year warranty (approved used car warranty for 2 years)

I did come away thinking I got a really good deal and each dealer is different but definitely try and get a discount on list price.

Grey is a great colour, I went for space grey and its a 'strong' looking car in grey, but not quite as 'brash' as the white and black ones.

40d engine is very responsive, and turbo lag is very minimal indeed. I would test drive 40d and 30d to see what you think.

I went to see the car earlier today, we just couldn't agree on numbers. Best they could do was £500 off but I wanted a 2nd year warranty which they wouldn't do, so we shook hands and parted ways and the search continues.

Space grey did look great, but if I'm being completely honest with myself, it was fairly easy to walk away from the deal as I think I prefer the black, so the search continues. A couple have come up over the weekend on the BMW site, so am not overly bothered, I will get one when the right one comes

Just updating this thread.

Picked up an X6 40d over Easter weekend

It had a nicely ticked option list including:
Top view
sunroof
front view assist ( i think that's what it's called, cameras in the front bumper thing)
3rd rear seat
HUD
Front sport seats
Roof rails

Pretty much everything else was standard. Bluetooth / Pro nav / heated seats etc

Absolutely love it

Nice to pick up things like HUD, front view...you don't see these specced as often as some of the more standard options.

Good choice with the 40D - thats what I went for too - no regrets. Engine and turbos work well together.

How are you finding the X6 now you're a few months into ownership?
