As per title, the anti glare cover is cracked on the idrive screen
Fortunately it's to the side and not in the main view, but it annoying and I want to fix it or have I t fixed.
The screen itself is fine, I would rather not go to the expense replacing the whole screen when it seems the anti glare part should be replaceable.

Has anyone replaced one or know where I could get it done?

I imagine that the screen and shroud come as a complete set. Worth talking to a specialist or looking on ebay I guess.

Thanks, theyre available on eBay and YouTube shows that it's seemingly easy to change but it seems an unnecessary expense to change the whole thing when it's just the screen cover

The screen is shipped into BMW as 1 part, the cover glass is fitted to the screen by their tier 1 supplier.

I had one replaced under warranty and the total bill was over £2k!

They indicated that the screen could not be replaced separately and any secondhand option wouldn't work as they are coded to the car but i'm pretty sure that is just typical dealership nonsense.

Thanks for both your replies, I guess my best option is to see if I can swap with a used unit.

Maybe take the opportunity to upgrade to pro nav? Doubt a used unit would be that much more than a business nav unit.

Are they intelligent screens? Or dumb screens powered by a separate head unit?

I'm assuming what you see in the pictures is the business sat nav, what's the benefit of the pro nav?

Larger screen and the ability to have it run split screen, so for instance map on left and trip computer right. It also has 3d maps and some other features.

Does yours have a hard drive for storing music on, Spotify and BMW apps? I read they might be part of the pro nav.

My idrive is the older cic model so I can't be 100% sure on differences, but it seems that the pronav is considered quite desirable. If you are paying for a new screen anyway I would consider it at least.

You may laugh, but I don't have a clue if I have a hard drive or not, Spotify is one of the apps I can download, but I don't listen to music in my car.
The sat nav screen does split to have the map on the left and arrow directions on the right, but I've not seen an option for anything else.

This is what the split screen looks like:

You can have trip computer, entertainment details (radio album art etc) different scale map, parking sensors and reverse camera etc.

Do you really not listen to music in the car?

Thanks for showing the differences, I'll look into this to see what's available locally.

Regarding the music, no. Apart from putting a cd in to check it worked when I bought the car I think that's the only time it played music. I prefer talk radio or comedy podcasts

Is the crack in the screen or the plastic shroud - it's not clear to me from the pictures.

I've just done similar to mine. Is this fixable without replacing the whole unit?

Screen is an easy swap, and it’s just a screen so no configuration required
