DCAN Cable - Where to buy one?

Having been stung on an ebay special £40 cable that doesn't seem to work properly, where would I go about getting a cable that works?
Interestingly, the cable I have now actually works with Carly for BMW Pro (coding) but not on dashcommand, or what I really want the cable for 'XHP flashtool'

What car is it and who did you buy the cable from?
If it were me I'd have a chat with Jim at Cableshack. He will be able to guide you in the right direction and is very helpful. I bought my cable from him and have probably saved around £130 already (I updated some software on my car).

Mine was from cableshack £40 or so, works fine on my e65 except INPA which is invariably in german or has mismatches. The gt1/easydis works perfect if not a bit clunky - but hardly cableshacks problem.If it were me I'd have a chat with Jim at Cableshack. DIS is known for being clunky ; it has to work through a virtual machine
As for INPA I find the German translations annoying but I do find it to be an invaluable bit of software. It may be worth chatting to Jim about the glitches on INPA

I understand ISTA-D is meant to be better than all of the above. It takes the best from both.
I did however consult with Jim before I bought my lead ; I was going to buy one type when he recommended for me to buy the "Flash" lead ; which probably should have been mentioned on his website in hindsight. I did not realise at the time how helpful that decision would be. I managed to update my gearbox software to CSL spec for not much, and can even remap it using one of Evolve's remaps for a lot less than other outfits charge. That's before I get to changing other parts.
Yup, I'm pretty smitten with it. As is another friend with an E46 who keeps robbing it off me!

The car is a 2007 Nov build (so DCAN) BMW 335i
I ordered this cable from ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271796230565 looks to be from cableshack, unless it's a different cableshack. Does anyone have a link to another one that will work? Or is it my phone that's stopping the cable working with certain apps seeing as it can communicate with Carly for BMW Pro, but not dashcommand or XHP Flashtool?
