I sprayed the silver trim with Plasticote Matt Black when I retrofitted the idrive, I sprayed it because I bought an idrive controller version and it was all scratched up and was a slightly different silver to the rest of the car.

I did it in a warm room, about 5 light coats, it looked just like the oem black they use.

This is what it looked like...

That's really nice, good work! Tempting.

I would just swap for a double din with Android auto and carplay.
I am looking. They just look a bit wrong to me.

Having said that, if I want a CD player, Android, single DIN, the list of options gets short, and expensive.

How do you find the B12 kit? What mileage was yours on? Cheers

Was on 105k when I took the springs off. I bought the car used from a london owner with a full BMW service history a year ago when it was on 82k. It's a 2009 car so the springs did below average annual mileage and was amazed the condition they were in once cleaned up. Even have the barcodes on still.

I couldn't be happier with the B12 kit. The car is now more compliant than my e92 M3 was but somehow magically makes the e91 m sport almost have the same response to inputs and poise. Its firm but not uncomfortable and very communicative.

Thanks. I'm 99% sure I'll return to the E91 fold and the suspension would be the first place I'd look to improve (ICE a close 2nd) as I didn't like the ride and handling of my SE spec 325i.

A good way to go about it. They both need sorting ideally on these cars. Alpine kit and a Bilstein suspension combo gets you there. smile

Been an interesting couple of weeks with my car.

Replaced pretty much all the suspension arms on the rear as it was starting to feel a bit loose. Feels much better now although i've yet to get the tracking all sorted and the steerings now not straight so I know its not quite right despite my best efforts.

Also cars had an oil/filter change and was due the rest of the bits but Eurocarparts are useless and couldn't manage to actually send the correct parts!!.

Took the under tray off to have a look at the bottom of the engine while I was under the car and found a lot of oil!! Looks to be coming from the Power steering pump/rack but couldn't get to the see much of the front of the engine to see if its coming from somewhere else and merely covering the PS pump and then everything back from it!

I've got the Gearbox and Diff oil to change if my transfer pump ever gets delivered so while the tray is back off i'll gove it all a good clean up and see what comes back to give me a bit more of a clue.

Finally a question for those of you who've DIY'ed a water pump change. How Grubby was the old one? I have no record of the pump being changed in mine and with it now being on 112k it's more than likely on borrowed time. However the one thats fitted at the moment is surprisingly clean! I would expect it to be a bit grubbier after 112k and 12 years!!

It wasn't showing any fault codes, and the car didn't hint of overheating - but there was an electrical humming when I locked the car up. I found it to be the waterpump using a stethoscope, and decided it was time for a change. When I took the existing one out, it had an '05 stamp on the manufacturing bit! I could also shake the shaft about.... New one in, no more electrical whining.
I also think the old stat was also stuck open - so it took a bit longer to warm up beforehand (although not as bad as you'd think because I mostly do longer journeys anyway, and the electric water pump helps with the warm up process).

It wasn't too bad a job either - certainly compared to a few others.
Only thing of note really was that one of the connectors (the main stat one iirc) was quite a tight fit and took a bit of grunt to be homed in and clipped on 100%.

I think I'd want Android auto too as it makes such a difference to navigation and music. I'm sure there's a way.

Pure Highway 600 is what I fitted. Phone in cradle. Works well enough and well hidden enough to keep the car looking original as well.

AM wary of Bluetooth FM transmitters after a bad experience with a couple. I guess they've improved a lot?

Not an FM transmitter. Purely bluetooth. Also receives DAB. Comes with a mic as well for hands free but I never bothered with that. Mine's plugged into the Aux-in in the arm-rest cubby.

I also havent fitted the Pure interface - I leave it inhte cubby out of site, and either control purely from my phone via Android Auto, or just take the interface out and lie it in the open cubby behind the gear selector. Put it back at end of journey.

I have advertised my 330i M-Sport on Gumtree.

However, I don't really want to sell it, just trying to appease my wife.

So, since advertising it I have done the following......

New set of Goodyear Eagle F1 non run flats all round.
Control arms which I had off my last one when I put the M3 ones on it, only had 20k or so on them. Put them on, feels much tighter.
New drop links and anti roll bar bushes.
New OEM M-Sport dampers, top mounts, dust covers and bump stops.
New rear window spindle, old one was getting bunged up.
New rear window actuator as the cable was getting caught up and twisted.
Retrofitted the OEM DAB.
Fitted a bluetooth music streaming to the aux input.
Got some leather beige spray paint to spray the rear centre console which is all worn on the edges where kids have obviously been putting their feet. Can't stand things like that.
A new set of matts.

Just order the OEM Bluetooth module and that will go in next week.

Oh, and as I already posted, fitted the wood trim to swap out the beige.

It has been a busy week. I really need to do some work at some point.

Fiona still thinks we should be swapping it for something small that does 50mpg.

I bought a Fiat Panda 4x4 this morning as a bit of a fun project, she can have that! wink

Ask 8 grand for it. Then you're "trying" to sell it. Everyone wins!

Ahhh, thanks for the information. The description didn't make that clear to me. Do steering wheel controls work on something like spotify? Can you change tracks for example?

Sorry - my bad. That's the trouble with trying to post whilst busy at work!

Sadly it's not integrated so doesn't work with steering wheel controls. Which is a little frsutrating when your wife's car has Smartlink and so enables Carplay/Android Auto, with everything controllable from the wheel!

But with the remote in the centre cubby it's actually not that bad. Can skip spotify tracks without even looking. If you were bothered to mount the remote then it's very easy to use.
