If it’s pre IBS you can put any size battery on with out any coding or registration.

540CCA seems a bit small if I'm honest, but I fitted a BOSCH S5 to my car when the battery died in 2019.

https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/bosch-s5-car-batter...

Mine also came from ECP just because I needed it same day. It's still fine now, and I've no concerns.

One thing maybe to think about is I think a larger battery size will fit in the battery tray. My BMW one that came out when I changed it was certainly larger. I might see if I can find the spec of a larger battery and swap back to one later, if this BOSCH one dies in the warranty period. I've had good luck with BOSCH batteries though, and an S5 has a 5 year warranty I believe.

I think you've got Carly, and if you do, there will be the option to code it in. Some cars have the IBS system, some don't. Easiest way to check is to look at the negative battery terminal. If it's got another wire looped to the positive terminal and a control box on it, you've got IBS. Otherwise it's regular and you're free to slap a battery in and be away. smile

ETA: If you can wait a bit there's a link to a Gen 90Ah battery here. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254821051969

Thank you, thought that was the case.

Looks like no IBS:

Thanks, yes I do agree, seems underpowered. Even the battery on the Z4 is 80Ah/640CCA.

Anyone fitted the CTEK comfort connector to the terminals? If so, how have you donethe +ve one? I fitted to the main terminal clamp itself, but because of the length of the cable/connector shielding on the CTEK cable the plastic terminal cover won't clamp back down. Just wondering if there's a slightly tidier way.

On an IBS car the charger should go on to the engine bay terminals. Pre IBS can go on either. This could give 2 choices for connecting.

Mine's pre-IBS so I've put it on the battery, and hidden the connector under the false floor in the boot.

Sounds like a neat solution.

Went for the Bosch S5 battery. Free next day delivery.

Must make a mental note to check the alternator is working properly.

Here to share my new motor. E91 335i. Picked up last night. During all the crappy weather. Not ideal! Got caught on the M54 driving in the snow. Was like driving through hyperspace. Comfy motor. Can’t wait to give it a good drive, last night didn’t have the best roads to drive on.

Looks great, it's a mighty thing, the 335i!

Looks lovely. I've spotted bi-xenons and privacy glass, any other nice options?

Looks great! Found an identical 330d manual parked next to me today laugh

What tyres are people running? Want something with good longevity and not be massively expensive.
Previously used eagle f1's on my compact which were fantastic but I wouldn't mind trading some of the performance characteristics of that tyre for some more life out of it if possible.

Erm, you know what. Not got a whole deal. I did want heated seats and iDrive. But it’s not got those. It’s got the visibility package I think... led lights in the door handle. Also want to say it’s got the storage pack. Which is handy having 2 lighter sockets in the back for charging kids items. Professional radio too.

The xenon lights last night were great in the snow. Made a hell of a difference!

Thanks! I just want to drive it so much. Looking for the smallest excuse to go out in it.

That looks great! The 335i has to be the ultimate E91, unless you get a re-mapped one. laugh

I can understand why you are looking for reasons to go for a drive - enjoy. driving

Oh god a remapped one... touching 370bhp. Potential for a small sleeper. Just those exhausts give it away.

True, but other than those of us on here who would know the significance of the exhausts? laugh

Haha, just saw your post on reddit... lovely car! Titan Silver?

I see you have the proper number plate plinth for the front licence plate! I was wondering if you can see how it is fixed/placed on the car - I have one to fit at some stage but not sure between the OEM holes and someone else being confident with a drill how I am meant to attach properly - is there a sort of bracket underneath?
