Hopefully. It's properly stuck in there. We'll see. It doesn't look too terrible to get the rad out so will give it a go Sat pm (annoying am working Sat morning irked)

Atleast you have one! I currently have an intermittent fault with the E46 when the ignition cranks without firing, during which it only lights up the airbag warning light not the the rest of the dash. Otherwise it's lights up, and fires straight away. Absolutely no fault codes at all!

Yes. I believe there are some relays it could be too. Sometimes if you leave it with the key in+on it will resolve in a minute or ten, but other times it won't for half an hour, key cycling doesn't help, but if you give it a cheeky crank knowing it fire, next key cycle it's grand. Who knows. They haven't found it, no charge, so it's booked in again in 10 days time. Mahhpppp.

Used parts are so cheap for E46s now I used to play part bingo at times with mine. Tended to win most times!

Yeah, it's just the time. 4month old baby, house renovation, and a wedding the plan, lots on at work during the day. Hence it's at the local BM indi who apprently don't fit used parts. Used to have a lovely BMW breakers walking distance from work that would spanner for me for cash, and swap his own parts onto it foc till resolved but have long sinced moved house and job.

Bad news re the fan.

Got it out, but the belt is well and truly lodged in the fan mechanism. Tried to disentangle but it's wrapped in there super tight. Regardless of method, pliers, lubricant etc, it's not shifting and I can't disassemble any further to access frown

Have however managed to order a second hand central fan component for £25.

Should come Tuesday. Hopefully will be back in the car Wednesday.

That’s not too bad a result.

I’ve bought a few bits from Global Parts and they’ve all been as described etc.

Yeah me too. Seem reliable so fingers crossed. Supposed to be delivered Tuesday. Fan was actually not too much of a bother to remove so might be able to get it sorted Tues evening after work.

Balls, quite a left field casualty of the whole process. But also good if you can replace for £25 fingers crossed.

Certainly beats a failed water pump which would have been far more expensive. Hope the used fan sorts it out.

counting myself lucky as my aux belt let go last year on startup but didn’t wreck anything else. Just left a mess of fluffy fibres everywhere

Wife said the car better not cause any more problems otherwise we're getting rid! eek

(Just had to order new boot struts as those have just given up the ghost resulting in a wack on the head yesterday when I was getting something out the boot).

I think pretty much all E91s will need a set of tailgate struts if they're still on the originals. Mine were holding the tailgate up, but you had to give it quite a helping hand to raise it. A new pair of Stabilus struts for £25 or thereabouts was well worth the money and an easy job to change. Just don't forget to support the tailgate before removing one of the struts, as it won't stay up with just one strut supporting it.

Had the same on my E36 Touring, a simple fix at least. Fingers crossed not any more issues for a while.

Still need to sort out that door/wing damage situation. rolleyes
