Sorry, typo there. I didn't mean to come across as arrogant as I did. smile

I'm not an expert but I am not sure that would do the trick. It might be worth speaking to whoever is going to do the job. You could order a bearing and reluctor ring kit, because the ring linked is very cheap. I don't see how there is a spot for a reluctor ring looking at a rear CV shaft for one of these cars, though.
haha, I didn't think you came across as arrogant at all! It's just me being naive!

I'm taking it tomorrow so we can look at it again. Just ordered the ring of Amazon for a tenner, if it fits and works, awesome if not, onto the next idea, and the bearing! hopefully tomorrow will shed some light on it!

An update to this for cars with logic 7, this is what I have ended up with, think it sounds quite good to my ears but would be good to have some feedback. Adaptation from a config for an e90 i found that was setup using professional audio monitoring equipment.
You've probably found this thread on e90post already, but if you havent: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16...

I know this was a couple of weeks back, but only just seen it.

You can ask the insurer for cash in lieu.

Basically you keep the car, as it is, it is not written off, and they give you the money for the repair costs.
So you will get £4200 from them and agree that is the end of it.

It is up to you to then get it back on the road.

You would probably get that done for a grand using a local body shop, because they don't have to get it back to factory fresh.

if you have not settled yet that would be your best bet imho.
I took the full payout and bought a new car. This one sold on Copart so it should show up again repaired.
New car is 335i E91 Touring LCI N55 Auto, 68k 2 former owners, black with brown leather. I'd already looked looked the car over and thank fully it was still available.

Ah cool.

I thought it was worth mentioning as not many know about 'cash in lieu'.

It can work out very well for owners.

£8k car, £4200 payout, £1000 to repair leaves you with nice car that only owes you £4800.

It was offered to be recently when AA damaged my bumper recovering me home, I gladly took the option because the amount was more than enough to cover the costs of other work I wanted carried out and I can live with the minor damage.

Ok so you keep the car and £4,200 from the insurance company with which to pay for the repairs.

Yeah, and it is not recorded as a cat either. Clean marker.

Here's a new issue...

Because I had the 630 picked up yesterday, the 330 was parked in the 6's usual spot. By chance when looking out the window last night I noticed the stop/start button was illuminated (car off/locked and had been for a couple of hours and still like that this morning).

I'm assuming this isn't correct and probably what caused the somewhat unusual drain issue with the old battery.

Any ideas? Problem with the button itself (?needs replacing) or something else. I must admit, am just tempted to get the battery out and remove the bulb and be done with it rather than faff around too much.

Old BMWs...rolleyes

Curious problem. This thread suggests it's because your battery is low.

I have the same issue on my E38, my gearbox selector light stays illuminated, and the battery will drain. The problem is due to the car not going into sleep mode, a faulty module is keeping CAN bus awake.

Definitely an odd one. Did a bit of reading around the issue last night and some threads suggest its to do with either the CAS module or a problem with Comfort Access (which my car has).

Re the CAS module...I don't know whether you have to get one from the same model (i.e. a 330i 4 door with comfort access) for it to work.

As mentioned, am tempted to buy a new (second hand) button to see if that does anything. Maybe as a temporary fix take the bulb out of it to minimise the drain.

George, I know some have had battery drain issues with the Comfort access handles not doing their thing properly, and not allowing the car to go to sleep. CA can be disabled with Carly Et al. and might be worth trying to see if it stops your battery drain. I think unplugging the handles can do it, too.

Occasionally I've noticed things staying on when they shouldn't have been, and I think it was because I'd managed to pull the key out rather than releasing it properly. Could it just have been something like that?

That was my understanding as well.

CA isn't working properly tbf.

Only unlocks on driver's side. I think locks and unlocks passenger side. Last time I put the code reader on it, it gave me an aerial fault.

I should invest in Carly etc. I only have the Creator 310. Don't think you can do any (de)programming with that.

I just don't want this issue to flatten another battery, that's why I wanted to get the bulb out as temporary fix until getting time to sort the underlying issue.

I'd be surprised if that's the case here but will double check it all.

Understandable. Taking the bulb out of the Start Stop button won't do a lot though, as when the car is awake there's also a lot still going on. It might be worth looking to see if CA has its own fuse, and yank that. Then see if the car will go to sleep

Good idea.
