M6 Grand Coupe -Pure Metal Silver - Do it!

So I sold my beloved RS6 V10 after 4 years of ownership as I fancied some rear wheel M action.
I deliberated between the M5 and the M6 for ages, but finally went for the 2014 M6 Grand Coupe Competition Pack in the end. I managed to get this pretty rate paint option of Pure Metal Silver and mate, I tell ya, what a colour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otOYaIFgiTo Some nutter paid $10,000 USD extra for this colour option from new. Amazing metallic finish with some oyster colours in parts. 8 year service pack (including pads and discs thank god) and 6 year warranty.
Thought I would share my pics and review in case you are deciding on an M5 or M6. Having read loads of reviews online it seemed that the M6 Grand Coupe basically just got better all round reviews. Plus, I think the M5 looks a little dated when you stick it next to a decent M6 Also, the rims on the M6 are the nuts and in my opinion, so much better than the M5's, which could do with some redesign love. I played with the idea of a 30th Anniversay M5 but when I saw one I didn't actually like the clear indicators and such.
Core Spec of the M6:
Competition Pack, Full Akrapovic Exhaust, All 5 Buttons etc, Manhart Bonet, front splitter and rear spoiler. (Actually doesn;t look too full on in the flesh) M Sport steering wheel and Pure Metal Silver Paint.
Having owned the car for the best part of 3 months I can tell you I am glad I went for the M6. I thin it looks more refined than the M5 and perfer the lines. Gearbox is like lighning on the change, smooth ride and getting the back out is easy as pie. I am no drifter, but if you want to have a bit of a play its so easy when in M mode with 3/4 off and 1/4 on, so it lets you play, but not too much you know. I think that they could have been a little more agressive on holding the downchange, the revs come down some way before changing down basically, but this is what paddles are for I suppose. Torque is all you would ever really need for the road.
The Akapovic exhaust really finsihes it nicely as the standard is a little quiet what with the turbo and everything. Its lound on start up but after 5 seconds when on tick over it doesnt piss the neighbours off. When you drop the hammer over 3k it sings, its loud but not too loud, just deep burble and crack on throttle off. You also get turbo whistle a little on slow acceleration which reminds me of the R5 Turbo days and brings a smile to my face. I dont have carbon ceramics but didnt want the squeak when out and about. To be honest, when you hammer it they do eventually give a little but its ok.
Wanted to share some thoughts for those on the fence, I mean both M5 and M6 are awesome, just depends what you are looking for. The M6 works on the long roads of Dubai but perhaps the M3/4 and M5 would be better suited to UK roads.

Congratulations, your car looks lovely. The M6 GC is the pick of the F1* M-range for me, they are a big car but look fantastic.
I assume that you enjoy lovely dry roads/warm temps for the majority of the time over in Dubai, which is something that we aren't blessed with over here in the UK... so big powerful RWD cars can be a little limited at times here.

The F90 M5 is actually 25-30kg lighter than the outgoing F10 M5, even with the addition of AWD. Some clever use of lightweight components up front & the CF roof have reduced the weight significantly

Have they confirmed that timescale as i was told the first dealer cars won't be arriving until early next year with the first customer deliveries being March next year. The couple knocking about right now (including the one at PHSS next weekend) are pre-production vehicles.IF discount is offered I may jump.

Listers phoned me yesterday to ask IF i wanted to go to this presentation I said yes It's in October not sure what car is their could be pre-production.

My guess is it will be the pre production model that's attending PHSS next week. Would be great if dealer cars do start arriving in October as i can then take a physical look at a production vehicle to help with locking down spec/colours etc.Modifications and options are pretty standard here in the UAE, especially from Abu Dhabi Motors. I bought the car with around 15,000 miles on it, which is next to nothing. There is only so much abuse you can give a car of course and it won't let you change down and go above redline and do damage, unlike say a manual sports car or something like that. And at the end of the day it came with an 8 year service pack including brake pads and discs and 6 year warranty.... So if anything goes wrong you are covered. The packages here in the UAE are pretty comprehensive, so all you essentially pay for are tyres.

Weird thing to say,you, but photos somehow make the front splitter look larger than it actually is. Bonnet louvres I would have preferred not to have, but hey, there we go. The overall package was the seller for me really. I literally paid less than half the cost of the original new price, so was a no brainer in that respect and pretty much a brand new car.
