Swap E46 HID mod to E39?

Hi,

I've got a '52 plate E46 that has a HID mod (is that the right description?), I also have an E39 touring ('53 plate)... I'm thinking of getting rid of the E46 and keeping the E39. Would it be possible to either swap the HID in to the E39, and use those spare E39 lights to replace the now removed E46 lights? Or, could I use the HID in the E39 and buy normal lights for the E46?

OR... would it just be easier/cheaper to get a HID mod for the E39 and leave the E46 well alone?

What sort of "mod" is it?

I think the bulb holders are the same (H7 type), so it should all swap over as long as you have somewhere to mount the ballasts.
