I'm trying to track down the dealer that did the running in service on a 2012 BMW. The service book is stamped by "BMW (UK) Limited, dealer number 80211", with what I suspect is an old BMW customer services telephone number under it (a Bracknell number which no longer works). I've phoned BMW UK and they don't have any record of this running in service, and didn't have a clue which dealer number 80211 related to. One dealer I spoke to wondered if it could refer to some kind of central servicing location or factory. I suspect the car was registered to BMW originally, and might be a press car/demo/management car. Any idea where these get serviced, or could it be anywhere??

Cheers

Could it be the same dealer as supplied the car , did the PDI?
Have the liscence plates been changed or is there a dealer name on it ; or on old photos of it ?
From the plate or a car check like carzanna work out where it was registered , might narrow down dealers ?

or the original owner done it himself to save a million quid if BMW done it and bought a stamp off ebay and just made up the numbers lol ;-)

Does it have a YC/YK/YG type numberplate?

It's a head office service stamp, BMW head office used to be based in Bracknell, now moved to Farnborough & the car was probably a staff car at some stage, phone the service history line on 09062090001 & they'll help with any query, premium rate number though

I imagine press and demo cars were serviced at the distribution and prep centre at Thorne. Management cars more likely to have been serviced at the nearest dealer, though I don’t expect many management or press/demo (except M cars) ever need a service given how often they’re changed! All “management” (a very broad description, loosely translating to almost anyone that works for a BMW group company in the UK...) cars are distributed from and returned to Thorne before being sold as AUCs though the dealer network. As mentioned above, Yx prefix plates could point to it being an ex BMW UK car, as will bmw.co.uk registration plates rather than ones with a dealer name on

Thanks for the info everyone. I'll try to get in touch with the Thorne VDC. It's on a YC plate. I've already tried the service hotline, they had no record of the service. By the way, there is an 0800 number you can use for that too - 0800 325600. Not sure who did the PDI as I only have photos of the service stamps. This was all on a car I was thinking of purchasing but I think I'll give it a miss.

Thorne VDC refused to help at all as no customer service function there apparently. BMW UK no help either because no record of the service. In fact, they had no record of the first three services, but I managed to trace the 2nd and 3rd.

Definitely sounds like an ex-BMW (UK) car - my first BMW had "BMW (UK) Ltd" on the number plates.

It was RK04...............!

2005 was when the switch from Bracknell to Thorne for registering management cars took place; I was doing some with the Group at the time. I had a 330d delivered in April/May with the plate RK05VJA; it’s replacement (petrol!!) delivered in August was YA05ZFP.
