On a long motorway run cruising at around 75mph fully compliment of passengers and luggage the car returned 32.5 mpg. Pottering around just me driving it’s around 31mpg. Would you say this is about correct returns ? Thanks

Is it an N52 or an N53?

I'd say that's pretty decent. Fully loaded. Check tyre pressures just in case but seems about right to me.

My n53 f10 returns high teens currently due to a lead foot, appallingly short trips, and it's colder.

Thanks guys, yes it is the N53 model. I was driving with a light foot, as I usually do. Our lad and his partner were passengers on the long trip, he got frustrated ‘go on pop stick your foot down’ whilst going through the gearbox, it’s a manual. He tells me I drive it like a oil burner.
Just wanted to check that my mpg was about right for my driving style.

Yeah the 31mpg pottering about is good IMO

The fully loaded bit is a bit low but depends on how fully loaded, hence suggesting tyre pressures. Mid 30's is what I get on a long run but that's me driving like it's an imaginary m5.

That said, both those figures are way higher than I'd expect if it was running poorly.

You could also get a code reader. Any NOX faults will increase consumption. No NOX or misfire faults means it's probably running well.

Your m way 75 cruise figure sounds very low.

I get 33 mpg from a fast m way run in a 545i.

I've had high 30's very occasionally on a long 70mph motorway run, but generally my figures are similar to yours. Round town usually high 20's.

New tyres just fitted, not run flats and pressures front at 33lb rears 35lb. Had a service just after the long haul, which was full load, new spark plugs fitted as normal along with the usual service check and new air/oil micro filters. No faults affecting running found. I checked again on mpg and it just nudged 32.9 at its best reading.
