The original recall was for cars built between March 2007 and August 2011, so I thought both of my 2006 registered cars were outside of the recall.

"In 2017, BMW recalled petrol vehicles built between December 2009 and August 2011"
I contacted my local BMW garage to have the airbag recall dealt with late last year, they told me no other recalls were outstanding. Time to go back again and recheck. Bloody BMW I’m begining to wish I had stuck with Skoda tbh.
Wife’s Fabia had a fault. We took it in and it had a steering rack changed ‘as a precaution’. I guess that was a ‘silent’ recall.

My 2010 E90 is due a recall, according to the DVLA. I phoned up Sytner on Monday, and the guy I spoke to took my details, and I'm now waiting for the very prompt call back I was promised.

It took them something like 6 months and several phone calls before I got the airbag in my E46 replaced, so it's probably still a bit early to expect anything. The guy did say that they were a bit short of the relevant parts, for some reason, so there's that too...
Had no problems when I took my E46 in for airbag recall. In fact they said that there was also a separate recall for the passenger airbag so they did both. Originall said it would take all day when I booked it in on the phone but when I arrived in the morning they said it would only take a couple of hours.

Don't know if they actually changed anything or just plugged in a diagnostics machine and said "yes, everything o.k." but the service was excellent.

They will have changed the pass dash airbag. Removed the drivers airbag and replaced it if it was a Takata.

No diagnosis involved.

Both issues were official safety recalls - They had no option but to do both.

To be fair I had no issue with the Airbag recalls on my E46 - except that it would have been better if both airbags had been done in the same visit! banghead

I'm just hoping my E91 doesn't spontaneously combust before BMW get the parts to my local main agent! frown

Still waiting to hear from BMW on the recalls. Three weeks was the time frame BMW allowed themselves after ‘Watchdog’ broadcast.
Very unimpressed.
BMW probably waiting on the DVLA.

More likely BMW not rushing as they haven't got the parts to their dealers yet!

My E91 is on the DVSA recall list, but I'm on the waiting list because my local Sytner doesn't have the parts!

Who initiated the booking? You or BMW?
Also have you already had the B+ cable replaced?

I called them after reading this thread. They didn’t mention the b+ cable. Mines a 2006 so I think it falls outside the cable recall.
With how old mine is now, it’s been a while since Bmw have had their hands on it so I wasn’t expecting them to call.

Thanks. Hope it all goes well, and do report back. Mine is 2009MY, so expecting to get both done. Not looking forward to my wiring getting open heart surgery though, so I may just wait until they get around to getting in touch first. Not due for my annual oil change until December, when ideally they can have it for the recalls too. Hopefully the car will stay in one piece until then. :-/

Just booked my 57 plate e91 in at Bowker in Preston on the 28th, both recalls being dealt with in one day apparently. Dealer also said I could have a courtesy car for the day, we'll see whether that actually happens. To their credit, the woman on the other end of the phone was nothing but polite and helpful.

I certainly hope so. They are being paid to do it, after all.

Cooper Croydon? They are my nearest dealership.

Was the one in Cobham. Nice showroom and staff pretty helpful. The Surbiton one always seems like organised chaos!

Decided to visit the local BMW service agent and get my car booked in. Took five minutes to check the recall on the car and it’s due to be fixed 18th June ‘18. Main agent likely saving postage stamps by not notifying owners by post? Unimpressed.

Cobham always seems to do well on owner feedback. Shame the same can't be said about Croydon, at least by me. Unfortunately, they are simply too conveniently located.

I'm with you on that - I bought a pre-reg from Cooper Croydon in 2008. Never again! banghead

Well, it's arrived. Although dated 06th June, it came through my letterbox this morning exactly 7 days later.
It's only for the Battery +ve cable replacement work though, and not the heater blower regulator harness.
As they state that they will write again when parts are available to do the upgrades, I'll just continue to sit tight and see what transpires.
