My 2014 F31 330d is showing symptoms of EGR cooler issues again (losing around 400ml / 1000 miles) despite having had the original recall back in December 2018.
Car has extended BMW warranty until August 2019.
I've booked it in for diagnostics on 22nd July.
What are my chances here? Possible for it to have a second EGR cooler or could it be something else.
MIne had the cooler and egr replaced under the recall, a month later and 100 miles on its leaking again. Took it back and it turned out to be a small plastic coolant pipe that seems really common, pain in the arse to replace. Car has extended BMW warranty until August 2019.

Pipe £15.00 Genuine BMW part
Labour £250
Wear and tear i guess, it was something similar to this item
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vaico-502267755-Upper-L...
Either way, I have warranty until August so hoping for a resolution.

I'll update after 22nd with the outcome from BMW..
Just to update from my booking this morning (2014 F31 330d).
BMW inspected the EGR cooler and found serious leaks and possibly the worst condition one they've seen. They had inspected the EGR cooler as part of the recall in December 2018 but passed it as OK with no leaks... I've completed 8k miles since then and had been loosing coolant at an increasing rate - up to 500ml / 500 miles towards the end.
To be fair to BMW, they diagnosed the fault within 1.5 hours and have just arranged for a hire car delivery to the dealership. The part could be a few days or a week (potentially longer).
BMW assist called me to talk me through everything. I also have extended warranty but I believe this is a recall issue.
I would advise - check your coolant level and monitor losses. My warning never came on because I was aware of the symptoms and kept it topped up.

I've just bought a 530d 63 plate from a dealer that has not had the recall work done. Having read about this recall on PH I've got it booked into Sytners tomorrow for an inspection of the EGR/Cooler/Inlet Manifold.
A couple of questions.
1. Given the car is so new (to me) is it reasonable to claim any additional charges back from the dealer as it was an issue clearly present & faulty at point of sale?
2. Are there any components worth replacing if they do any major strip down work under warranty. Eg that £15 plastic pipe mentioned earlier in the thread.
Cheers, Ian

I recently bought an F31 320D from a car dealer which turned out still to be subject to the EGR recall. My local BMW dealer booked it in quite quickly and the EGR cooler turned out to need replacement. I was fairly lucky that it was only in overnight as they were able to order the part for the next day. They obviously do not keep stocks of this part in case an inspection only will suffice. They also checked and re-torqued some bolts on the steering, which is apparently another outstanding check on some vehicles.
Anyway, the real point of this post is that I came across this page from Trading Standards:
https://www.tradingstandards.uk/news-policy/news-r...
Obviously the independent dealers are choosing to ignore this legal obligation, as I assume it would result in them being unable to move stock as quickly as they would like. I would doubt if Trading Standards have the staff or resources to follow up these things.

Took my 530 GT for its annual service on Monday
2012 Model and less than 30K miles on the clock
The car has been serviced annually and the last service was in October 2018.
got a call later in the morning
Car needs the EGR re-call and still waiting on parts
Will be fun to know when I get the car back
Will keep you in the loop

2016 X1 engine light came on orange in Sept. EGR Cooler needed replacement, under extended warranty, £100 excess.
Over last weekend orange engine light on again. In to BMW. Diesel leak throughout engine bay. Into DME/ECU, wiring loom, turbo, other components. I suspected melted inlet manifold but told it's a leaking fuel sensor. Seems odd it has spread so far?
BMW estimate over £10,000 to repair. Two weeks plus. Hopefully all will be covered by the warranty.
Our 10th BMW over 33 years and most definitely the last. BMW have gone to pot. Shoddy build, engineering, design. Do not buy one.

It does make you wonder if recall repairs are being rushed, and other faults being caused.Over last weekend orange engine light on again. In to BMW. Diesel leak throughout engine bay. I have a 66 335Xd, no recall... yet... just waiting for them to be hit too... bought extended warranty to cover it off just in case.
Anecdotal I know, but maybe the staff working on cars aren’t quite as good as you’d want for your £/hr?
My car was recently in for basic jobs and it took all day.
Complained, lots of apologies, got a BMW RC car out of it for my son.
Reviewed the dash cam footage later... hmmm...
I’ve never seen so much fsking around and dilly dallying around in all my life.
If I were paying their £150+/hr I’d never be going back.
So maybe not the cars so much, but the dealers service team?

Well documented elsewhere, but this is one of the reasons most garages disconnect your dashcam. When I got my car back from the recall earlier this year the dashcam was disconnected - some research suggested it's common practice. I’ve never seen so much fsking around and dilly dallying around in all my life.
