I doubt bmw are - I had a 48 hour hire car via bmw you get as part of the warranty/bmw assist when mine was crashed into last week, and enterprise went out their way to get a 320d touring for me as apparently bmw don’t pay them unless they supply a bmw (unless the recall work is outside of this agreement).

I mean don’t get me wrong this one is a shed but at least it’s essentially the same car as mine.
Slightly confused, but you doubt BMW are what? Both me & my friend have ended up in non-BMW cars (between his insurance & subsequent repairs he has had 4 non BMW cars, I'm lucky with just the one). Enterprise are literally giving people anything.

I doubt bmw are paying if they aren’t putting you in a bmw.

BMW UK (not the dealer) are providing replacement vehicles via Enterprise, who may in turn have 'some' BMW's, but I was not offered a BMW, I was literally offered anything they had. It's exactly as I said in my post. BMW UK are definitely paying, and it's definitely not a BMW on my driveway. Why would I even make this up? By the way, there are comments on the previous page about someone else ending up in an Astra, someone else with a Renault Kadjar and then a Volvo V90 - do you doubt their stories too? rolleyes
Enterprise have offered me 'a Qashqai or a Mokka' as a replacement for the Tipo. If anyone wants to come to Enterprise at St Albans on Saturday morning 9am, be my guest.

Edit: Here's the hire agreement that Enterprise mailed me after they dropped off the car. Look who's picking up the charges:

My 640D got taken in on the 17th of January and got kept in as the cooler was leaking.
Got given a Hyundai i40 which was a real piece of crap compared to the 640 lol

Anyway got the car back on Tuesday.....thank God.

So just over two weeks to get sorted for me in Glasgow through Douglas Park Dealer

My 2014 330d went in nearly 3 weeks ago and still no news regarding its return. I do have an Enterprise 320d as a loan car so I’m not too bothered.

I’m quite happy with how the issue is being dealt with, as my car is out of warranty and I don’t subscribe to the BMW emergency service. It’s a pain the parts are on back order, but I feel BMW are dealing with it in the best way possible.

I also find it funny how upset people get when their loan car is ‘below their usual level’!
You've been lucky to be allocated a 320d while your car's off the road and I doubt many if any would be complaining if they'd been dealt with in a similar way. However, I wonder if you'd still find it quite so funny if you did a high mileage and had been moved from a top range 3-series - for which you may still be paying monthly on a finance agreement - to (say) a 1.4 Astra?
They'd be lucky to have a hire car overall, our C1 needs new rear windows as apparently they can randomly fall off. Countrywide recall, no courtesy cars until late March. Considering how many cars this BMW recall affects, people should appreciate they get a BMW as a courtesy car!

Kind of glad that we have a M57 engined car instead, we were close to buying a N57 engined one too. Didn't stop the EGR thermostat from leaking anyway.

If they get a BMW, they should indeed appreciate it. Not many people getting them though.

Before you surrender your vehicle, make sure you ask your dealer about the timescales involved if repair work is required.

And they will say "we won't know until we have conducted the inspection".

Apparently, it is less likely to be affected if it is an earlier car. Mine was unaffected, build date is Feb 12.

Keep your wig on I’m not saying you are lying. What I said was that enterprise told me they have a contract with bmw where they have to provide a car regardless, but BMW only pay enterprise if they supply a BMW. So what I was saying was that BMW aren’t actually paying for your car if what enterprise told me was true.

Honestly some people rolleyes

Anyone got their car booked in at Specialist Cars Luton (besides bflemming i think)?

And any clue if certain models are being repaired quicker than others?

Mine is indeed there, and from what I hear it'll be there for a while. No parts available, yet they're allegedly accepting cars in for recall work, then stockpiling them in anticipation of parts arriving.
At this stage I'm pretty sure Specialist Cars have no idea when the EGR coolers will arrive; I'm also pretty sure BMW UK are being strung along by Munich.
I've had a look through the main German BMW forums, and there's no mention of delays, so I'm guessing BMW is prioritising their domestic market first. Not really surprising.

My daily text from Specialist Cars - bless them. I'm not sure how many different ways they can say 'we have no parts' but I'm sure I'll find out.

My car was returned to me this morning, all repaired. So only 10 days in the end... not too bad.

Glad you got yours back quickly!

Mind me asking what reg year and model?

Sadly my 62 plate 330d Touring is still 'ETA unknown' for its replacement part.

BMW Worcester not been the most helpful tbh, has gone from definite Mid-January, to Mid-February, was confirmed as this Friday, then back to ETA unknown and could be months from now according to them.

BMW agreed to upgrade my hire car because of the extra delays, they notified enterprise to upgrade, enterprise say they didn't get notified, BMW now claiming they don't have any recollection of authorising the upgrade! The place is a circus it would seem....

Feb 2013 built / May 2013 registered 525d (F11) with the N47S 2.0 engine. The 525d went from 3.0 to 2.0 in 2012.
The EGR cooler part number is 11717823210 which is installed to a wide variety of cars. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=1171782...

My wife’s BMW 420i has just had the recall done and now the next day it’s spluttering and missing.
Has anyone else had this problem ? The dealer is saying it’s not something they have done. But prior to this the car was running fine.

The 420i isn't part of the EGR recall - it only affects the diesels.

My 2014 520d is currently at Sytners waiting for parts to be available. They have confirmed an issue with EGR cooler that will be replaced as part of the recall.

The EGR value also needs replacing - at this stage they can’t confirm whether this will be covered as part of the recall, as may be a separate part number. So the EGR valve element would be chargeable.

Anyone else with experience of the EGR value needing replacing separately to the EGR cooler?

Thanks.
