After a wetvac it came up like new. I know the leather of the time couldn't do that. I prefer cloth in E39/46 cars. More comfortable, lasts longer, and not too cold/hot.

I've ordered some genuine 2nd hand centre caps x 4 for £8.40. They look OK and should fit reliably

Anyone want 4 M5 17" replicas with worn winter tyres?

I drove mine for the first time at night last weekend and the headlamp aim is practically pointing to the floor. Height motor works OK. I undid the screw cap on the top of the headlamp and inside seems a bit loose. Any ideas?

The plastic headlight adjusters have broken - they all do it eventually. Put aside a morning and a pot of tea to sort

Broken plastic adjusters. Loads of info online, and the best way to deal with it depends on exactly which lights you’ve got.

I bought this jap import 528i off eBay for £600. Amazingly everything worked - almost. It was rust free having only been in the UK for about a year. Best car I've ever bought and I still miss it. Blog here -

My E39 M5, bought it 10 years ago yesterday. Best all round car I've ever had by far.







Lots of preventative maintenance and retrofit of various OEM options over the years.

Full respray



Epoxy underside protection as the standard finish is not really up to it



I like Alcantara and the standard boot material is horrid, so Alcantara boot



and headlining



Integrated child seats when the kids were younger, although they've been returned to standard now



Radar detector concealed in the rear view mirror



Paint protection film on the front



Plus lots of other bits and pieces.

Couple of track days too

Some really outstanding E39s on this thread. I thought mine was good but....
