I've just bought a 520d G30 from BMW and on Friday I'll be collecting it from the dealership.

It also comes with one of these new display keys but I've seen it already and it has a few scratches on it through wear and tear. (The car was an ex-demo).

I'd like to get a case for it to protect it, plus also add a key fob to the end, so I can hang it on my key chain. Can anyone recommend a decent leather case that looks and fits well. I've seen a ton of examples from Aliexpress and eBay, but they look a bit cheap, and they're not leather. The genuine case from BMW means you can't even use the display key as it's inside a pouch which I don't want.

Ideas?

Forgive my ignorance, what is a ‘display’ key?

The dealer threw in a BMW case when I bought our 7. I used the display key for about a week, since then it's been sitting in a drawer. Pain in the ar#e and adds no real benefit. I would rather had had another main key.

It's basically one of these:

I've got a few features in my car that work with the key, but I've heard the same story from a few people. Plus it's very laggy I heard.

The new standard key does look nice though! I need a nice key ring for that too....my Montblanc one has seen better days which is a shame:

It's cool at first showing your mates how you can check your stats, pre-heat, reverse it etc but the key needs charging and is a huge thing to carry around. You can use an app on your phone with other manufacturers which is a better option I think. In fact I think BM have one also.

Looks way too big. I have two ‘normal keys’ with house key added.

So I ended up buying a cheap Chinese cover for the display key and one of these for the standard one....

I get the feeling I won't use the display key much and I'll probably end up ordering a spare standard key for the wife irked
