Hi,
I’ve been looking at BMW M135i’s recently and was wondering what common faults they have?

Is the N55 a reliable engine? What are N55 specific common faults? What are common faults with the F20 1 Series in general?

This can be applicable to ZF 8 Speed cars and 6 speed manual.

Cheers,
Levi

Electric water pump is the only major issue that can fail on these, or will fail at some point. They can throw ignition coil pack's failures as well, otherwise they are pretty good.

Yes, very reliable, i currently have a N55 M135, and the engine is renowned for being very reliable, as long as you dont do donuts in a car park, which is the only thing i know about being oil starvation to the engine (caused by said donuts) you will be fine.
