That's quite a shiny steering wheel for only 48k miles.

It's an M sport knob no? Not correct for the car, is it?

I think some M sport options were available on the 318is. They certainly came with M Sport suspension as standard I've read somewhere.

My guess on price is £7495.

Yes cheap knock-off M knob that.

Nothing wrong with the original M knob for periode correctness.

If you have dirty/oily hands, a steering wheel will quickly look like this, nomatter the milage.

But give it a good clean with a good leather product and use a softbrush with some soapy water on the tri-color stitching and it will look miles better.

I always thought my steering wheel was pretty clean, untill I cleaned it.

Love an e36.

I have a '99 323SE cab with a manual box, orient blue/tan. My dad bought it about 10 years ago and it was a real looker. He didn't look after it hugely well cosmetically though, I took it on about 6 years ago and used it as a daily. It was perfect, reasonably quick, comfortable, roof off if not raining. Sadly it's suffered from being dailyed and then relegated to 2nd car rarely driven, and living outside frown - rust all over, and the paintwork is poor (very badly swirled, boot has been resprayed poorly at some stage). Roof also currently inop as well. Engine is still a peach though and sounds glorious with 120k on it. Don't really know where to go with it. It's clearly not a halo model and it needs a lot of money spending on it, money that I would never get back, and that it's not worth spending. It is a lovely thing though.

My brother has a 328 Sport in Technoviolet which is lovely but he is slowly running it into the ground. If I room and time then I would buy it from him; I think it is a millstone around his neck to be honest frown

Interested to hear the comments about the e46 330 Touring - as I have one as a daily now, and it is fantastic. Mine is a facelift Sport 6 speed manual, so quite a rare beast. Sadly it is also exhibiting the usual arch rust at all 4 corners and I have been wondering if it is worth doing on a car coming up to 180k miles. But newer BMWs hold no interest for me. Would it be worth throwing a couple of grand at the e46?

I bought my E36 323i se saloon back in 1998. It was six months old.

Still got it and it's still a daily. Drives beautifully and no rust. Few knocks and scrapes and the laquer has come off one of the wings that was resprayed after an accident, by BMW. The original paint is in very good condition. Avus Blue.

Driver's seat cover is very worn and I found an exact replacement cover last year after years of searching. £200 just for the base. Feck that.

Anyone know where I can pick up some covers in black anthracite?

I also don't like the centre console without the full 18 button OBC.

You don't get more 90s BMW than the poverty analogue clock!

My favourite thing about the e36? Drop the bonnet the final 12 inches. I have never heard such a satisfyingly solid and Germanic *thunk*.

Thanks man, yeah I do hear that. I really wanted arctic or again a dark metallic green but it's supposed to be the colour to have.

It's grown on me but I'm still not convinced.
I had an e36 325i coupe in Laguna Green (not Boston!) which was in my opinion the best colour, especially with white leather. Swopped it for a black on black after 5 happy years. Still a head turned when you see a nice one.

I had the clock on my E30, but never owned an E36 without the full OBC...all those lovely buttons. cloud9

Agree, bonnet sound is very decent. Much more solid than my E46 tbh.
