I can't believe people with eyes actually buy these cars.
hehe

All SUV look wk to me.

At least the BMW ones drive something like ok for their size etc.

But yeah, my wife and I looked at X3/5 and neither seemed bigger than our F30... just taller.
So further up to lift kids (PE = mgh), and also harder for them to climb in, further to fall out.
Worse aero/economy. More weight, lower economy, more expensive on tyres/brakes.

Still impossibly hard to justify except for the higher driving position which my wife still seems to like...

They should just put periscope slots on saloon cars hehe

The SUV market is for many very much about the perception of safety/visibility. I couldn’t justify a high powered SUV (if I could afford one), though there are plenty who do.

The original X3 was great, the boot was larger than the X5 and you could get the twin turbo 3.0 diesel in the 3.0SD, the new ones seem a little pointless now they've shrunk the boot. For £549 a month you can't really complain though.

Yes, on it's way from Spartanburg delivery just before Christmas week, loads of people have taken delivery this week on stock cars as well but people don't tend to post on this sub forum anymore and have migrated to bimmerpost, judging by the usual hater posts on the thread that's hardly surprising as PH is just full of trolls these days.

I wonder if mine is on the same boat? It is due in around Christmas too. I agree about the trolls, I hardly ever post any more, far too much hate on here.

Am I right in thinking the road tax on this is £1800 year one and £465 for the next four years...?

Stratstone are offering the X4M for £529/month (£529 deposit) for Black Friday:

https://www.stratstone.com/bmw/events/black-friday...

(or the M2 for £499/month + £499 deposit if that's more your bag...)

Damned ugly the X4. I wouldn't bite at 429.

Yep, I got in early into the deals launch and bought a car through Stratstone Chesterfield. Managed to get a £22k discount in total with 2.9% APR.

These deals are on stock cars and only valid until 31/12/19. Take up has been huge so not many cars left.

Some thoughts based on reading this thread:

1. Ride - total rubbish in some reviews, yes it can be quite hard but generally softer or comparable to an M2 Comp, M4 Comp or M5 Comp etc
2. Torque - yes there is a high peak torque curve which I love, pushing you to drive to the 7200rpm limit
3. Performance - epic, Car and Driver stats are 0.60mph in 3.5 secs and 0-100mph in 8.0 secs
4. Handling - again epic for an SUV. I think only the Macan Turbo could take a circuit better, not that anyone takes these things on the circuit
5. Versus Stelvio an F Pace SVR - they both sound better but the F Pace is over £1000 per month with a large deposit so more comparable to a Cayenne Turbo in cost. Stelvio is a great car and I came close to getting one, but the interior is average compared to the X3M
6. Quality - no BMW I've owned before has had as good build quality as this car (previously owned a 640d too).

More overall thoughts are that for the money it's bonkers good and if you can live with having an SUV it's a no brainer.

I actually think of it as an M3 Touring.

Biggest negative - noise, OPF's kill the sound which is a shame, but it's still alright.
