When I was looking into getting a tracker fitted (not required now), I’m pretty sure that you have a 14 day window to get it fitted from what I can remember. Best to check with the insurance company you’ll be using.

I’ve just read the following on a tracker installer’s website:

‘’You will have to provide your insurer with a certificate of installation and will usually be allowed some time to have the tracking system fitted to your vehicle (often 7 or 14 days after inception of the policy).’’

Fair enough. Obviously fitting a tracker is a good idea regardless.

I still don’t believe getting a tracker fitted is the answer to expensive premiums. The up front cost and continual monitoring fees will surely outweigh any saving on premiums.
Agreed. If you need to activiate the tracker the car has already been stolen. Its a strange concept to me! Id love to see some stats on tracker recovery rates as I know two people who had cars stolen (both Evoques) and the tracker didnt locate the car. Good thieves know where to find them.

I suppose it must show insurance companies that the customer is thinking more about security and theft then the average person. I’m guessing it must effect some probability metrics.

So i have had a deeper delve into tracker devices and it turns out that you need a Thatcham Approved tracking device for most car insurance policies. These start from around £190 to purchase + £130 annual subscription. So it may or may not be worth the hassle depending on how much you save on your insurance each year.

The cheap £50 DIY tracker devices from Amazon will not be valid for insurance purposes, even though the the customer services guy said ANY tracker will be fine!

Has anyone who is waiting for the car to arrive in March had any further updates?

I know I am very late to the game but I take it these deals are now over (9+23 @£250-£350)...sorry new to leasing so still trying to figure out how peeps get a handle on all the good deals (which isn't for some sort of small run around) - no offence meant.

Same here, I haven’t been updated since being told the cars arriving to the dealer early March. I rang on Wednesday and was told they should update me again in a couple of days. Still waiting to hear something.

Not wishing to be a prophet of doom but a chap on Bimmerpost was about to sell his existing car in anticipation of a March delivery but has apparently been told his new one won't now arrive until May; not sure if it makes a difference but I think that's for a GC rather than a Coupe....

Expected delivery in March. Been updated today with late April. Disappointed as mine is a standard car with no options. Thought there would have been one unregistered in the dealer network.

Told them it's either March or late as possible, which would be end of June if I remember correctly.

Mine's supposedly touch and go for end of March but given what we're seeing here I fully anticipate I'll be asking them to hold mine til June as well...

Nope, getting an update every 2 weeks from G2L as a matter of course

Mine is reported as ‘mid march’ - here’s hoping!

Despite the emailed advice, I’ve taken a deposit on my current daily as I got an offer I’d be foolish to refuse, and it goes next week. Fortunately I have my ‘classic’ z4 to use tho it will seem like a huge contrast going from the to the 8 when it arrives!

Yep I’m pretty sure these are all done, keep a close eye on the lease deal thread for random bargainess from time to time! The trick is to be totally open minded for choices, and there is usually no time for procrastination...

The headline prices are usually for very low mileage limits so expect them to jump up if you need 10-15k pa.
