For better clarity - I got offered to buy my car at 38k. I then checked with bca on pcp for 24 month with 4k down and have been given 370 on the monthlies for 8k.
The balloon payment at the end it soo ridiculous I would just hand back at that point.
Bargain. Lowest I got was £45k 6 months ago. I said to myself 40k or less I would buy it. The balloon payment at the end it soo ridiculous I would just hand back at that point.

Never did see what happened to mine - looked on the Auto Trader many times but not seen it

The used ones do seem to be selling in the last month, stock was increasing until a month ago but now down about 25%, I was looking at the 2 door, I'd think the same for GC. They did seem to coming down sub £40k but now are just over that. I'm in no rush so will wait and see if prices move they way I want, if not, no big deal as still not 100% sure I could live with a massive external car with relatively little internal space, does look good though.
I love the style of the 840i but bizarrely my 5yr old (2017) 530i feels much more solid than the 8 (2020) did. Nothing 'gives' on the interior of the 5 and there are zero rattles or squeaks even at nearly 60k miles.
Was my 8 just one of the rattlier ones or did anyone else find similar? It just didn't feel as 'solid' as I think it should've...
The 5 feels like it's been carved from stone (in a good way!).

Yeah I still am a bit gutted about it going.
My dad is actually considering one - big spec with only 600 miles or a new 340i touring. I like both personally!
Just got my 340 this week. I have to say, it's absolutely fab. All the best bits of the 840 with not quite the excessive length/width, but with the bonus of added practicality and a bit better performance. It really reminds me of the 8 to drive with great refinement when you need it, and a proper naughty split personality when you plant your foot with everything turned up to ten. Its good to be back with the B58/ZF8 combo...My dad is actually considering one - big spec with only 600 miles or a new 340i touring. I like both personally!

Sounds like you might've been unlucky with your 8, both mine have felt exceptionally solid and well built. Was my 8 just one of the rattlier ones or did anyone else find similar? It just didn't feel as 'solid' as I think it should've...

However the Polestar 2 I briefly owned in between was plagued by rattles and squeaks, which was odd since everyone I spoke to raved about the Polestar build quality normally been faultless

How would you rate the ride comfort vs the 840?
I would say they are very comparable, with the 340 maybe slightly firmer overall. It's on RFTs but a slightly smaller 19" compared to the 840 which might compensate slightly for the marginally firmer ride. It has adaptive suspension as standard but I must admit I don't feel a night and day difference between the settings rix said:

You can buy the black grille and trims easily enough, from places like eBay
Try Ali Express aswell. Or go back through this forum in the earlier pages and someone put a link to the grille and you could get the other bits as well. Or go to the dealer for grille side vents and exhaust trim pieces

Majority of the ones on eBay etc are the double slat rather than the single. I prefer the single that’s why. But thanks guysOr go to the dealer for grille side vents and exhaust trim pieces
I actually like the double slat vents although all the ones I have come across are for models with the cameras. Any links to our models out there?

I'm finding the ride poor on my LCI 840i compared to my pre-LCI 840d and think the tyres may be to blame. It's on RFL Goodyears, has anyone found similar with these? I had Michelins on the old car. New one seems to crash over bumps and makes you feel every little imperfection in the road. Old car was firm but never this bad.
no such experience to talk about. mins are on Michelins and the ride is quite compliant. only thing i would say is that the 8 is more wafty and less of a "hold on to your hats" sort of drive compared to other BMW's ive had in the past.
