It might end up been the same as the Drive Recorder which appeared last year and was initially said to only be available June 2019 builds onwards. However it seems to show on the Connected Drive store for all 8-series provided they're running new software. Works on my March 2019 build 840d.
does it appear in the app? mine is a December 2019 built, has the 360 and all the other required packs but doesn't appear in the app

Yes 360 cameras are needed, I think in the UK you can only get those via the Technology Pack. The other key prerequisite is the newer iDrive software, mine was updated February this year. Without that you won't get the option
If you have both the above the option should appear like this in the Connected Drive store:

I had it. You may need new battery and delaership visit I am afraid. Disconnecting for few mins didnt work for me.... Did those who had this problem reset iDrive or disconnect battery for a few mins and reconnect?
