840i M Sport Lease Deal
Discussion
Weirdly my Spotify decided to work again after I tried it on Sunday. As you imagine, I am very pleased about this as it was a real pain reverting to phone+bluetooth (which meant I couldn't switch playlists/artists/albums etc whilst driving).
Simon - I would hope that the addition of AA wouldn't nuke the installed Spotify; that uses BMW's Connected Music connection for streaming whereas using Spotify through Android Auto would use the phone's data connection (as it would be remotely controlling the phone through iDrive). I imagine you'd also have to keep switching between the two systems if you wanted to use any of the car's native iDrive as every Android Auto implementation is effectively just 'your phone on the dashboard' which is great if you want to use Google Maps, a different music service (I subscribe to Qobuz as well for example) but if I wanted to use the car's nav I would have to drop in and out of AA to iDrive.
The more I think about it, the less I'm bothered by AA coming - the inbuilt Spotify works fine as does all the mapping etc as it's current. Also AA doesn't use the full width of the BMW's display, you have black bars either side. AIUI, this is down to the differences in display resolutions between the iDrive display and what the phone can output.

Excuse my ignorance but is the data for Spotify etc provided gratis by BMW indefinitely? I assumed initially that it was hotspotting to my phone but quickly realised that want the case. Is it going to die on me one day and I’ll need to subscribe to keep up the service?!
Its provided as part of the connected package professional pack which after three years you have to pay to renew. Heres Johnny said:

BMW adds Android Auto to 750k cars in huge iDrive software update:

BMW's Connected Music, which I subscribed to for a year after my free trial ended, has been down for a week and a half. It's getting rather tiresome. I'm tempted to ask BMW to cancel and refund and take Spotify instead.
Will a Spotify Individual Premium account (£9.99pm) allow me to use it on the car's own inbuilt app, as well as my iPhone when I'm not in the car, or does that count as 2 accounts, in which case I need the Family Premium (£14.99pm)?
Cheers

Yes, Spotify Premium Individual for £9.99 will do what you want - that's what I have. As Pazuzu notes, you'll only be able to listen on one device at a time though. Will a Spotify Individual Premium account (£9.99pm) allow me to use it on the car's own inbuilt app, as well as my iPhone when I'm not in the car, or does that count as 2 accounts, in which case I need the Family Premium (£14.99pm)?

I don’t have that model but I do have a VIOFO cam wired into the fuse box using their parking mode kit and it works well.
The OBD port is permanently powered so you’ll need to ensure your camera or wiring kit has a voltage cutoff or cutoff timer. It you let it draw too much you’ll get warnings from the car about the battery drain but nothing that causes any permanent bother.

Its really low profile and sits out of the way behind the rear view mirror. I’ll grab a pic a bit later.
Did you go for their wiring kit too? You can use F28 for the always live and F59 for switched. You’ll need 2 ATO type piggy back fuse holders with 5amp fuses. I used one of the knee airbag retaining nuts for earth.

Hello looking at the 840i Coupe, on PCP it is around 599 deposit and 599 for 8k miles. For four years,
This is around 100 more than the lease deals, how are people finding the car as I think it looks great. I am sure it drives well. Not a petrol head but had 530e saloon about ) months ago

Was going away for the weekend and while on the motorway, I decided to put the car in adaptive mode. After it got into adaptive I’ve now got an error come up “drivetrain”. This car has some serious quality issues.
My rear diff issue is back
One of the exhaust gives out insane amounts of smoke
Front sensor does not emergency brake anymore
I am hoping this issue is minor and doesn’t spoil my weekend away.
To the person who was asking about dashcams. I’ve got the thinkware U1000 fitted via OBD. Works a treat.
