RE Dashcams - if you have Tech Pack/ 360 parking the easiest option is just to get BMW Drive Recorder from the Connected Drive store. This effectively turns the cameras already fitted to the car to a built in dashcam. Works really well and saves having to mess about with cabling a third party camera.

Just read on a Facebook group that Sonic Speed Blue is no longer available - checked the configorator and that is indeed the case. Wonder why?!
Mine is Sonic Speed Blue, I'd also be interested to know why they've deleted the colour! It was a carryover from the run out 6-series and looks stunning IMO, gets so many compliments

I thought about signng up for the BMW one but I believe it only works when you're driving. Don;t some dashcams also trigger if somebody breaks in or trigger the alarm?

Hello looking at the 840i Coupe, on PCP it is around 599 deposit and 599 for 8k miles. For four years,

This is around 100 more than the lease deals, how are people finding the car as I think it looks great. I am sure it drives well. Not a petrol head but had 530e saloon about ) months ago
Would you mind telling me where you saw this deal as I'm interested in one myself? Thanks

Yeah sure cheapest I could find it was here :

https://www.stratstone.com/search/new/cars/bmw/8-s...

I enquired but I don’t fancy the 4 year term and I don’t want to tie myself in for a large sum every month just in case there is a slump.

Lovely looking car mind,

Its really low profile and sits out of the way behind the rear view mirror. I’ll grab a pic a bit later.

Did you go for their wiring kit too? You can use F28 for the always live and F59 for switched. You’ll need 2 ATO type piggy back fuse holders with 5amp fuses. I used one of the knee airbag retaining nuts for earth.
yes i went with exactly that setup. found the cabling a little bit of a pain as these are thicker than the Blackvue cables but got there in the end. which i had seen this post later because it took me quite some time to find out which fuses to use since the accessory power in this vehicle stays on forever. all sorted now.

on the note about fitment. the Viofo sits much nice on the windscreen than the blackvues as you can fit near the rearview mirror as opposed to the bottom of it so after comparing them side by side, im returning the blackvues.

regarding the ground, i found a bolt at the end of the footwell, which the undertray sits on. put the ground to that one and got a nut from halfords to screw on.

Was going away for the weekend and while on the motorway, I decided to put the car in adaptive mode. After it got into adaptive I’ve now got an error come up “drivetrain”. This car has some serious quality issues.

My rear diff issue is back
One of the exhaust gives out insane amounts of smoke
Front sensor does not emergency brake anymore

I am hoping this issue is minor and doesn’t spoil my weekend away.

To the person who was asking about dashcams. I’ve got the thinkware U1000 fitted via OBD. Works a treat.
hasnt your car been in already for these? looks like you got one of the bad ones unfortunately. hopefully they sort out.

Hi mate, what brought your attention to the diff in the first place? I have noticed lately a rather subdued thunk as i reverse out of the drive and apply close to full lock. Its a one off thunk - not multiple - and it isnt that loud.

Hi Simon

It’s not as bad as when I first experienced it and they fixed it. Now it’s more subtle but that thudder and “thunk “ is still there. Especially when moving off or turning.

Ala.co.uk

I think they are the forum sponsor so check out that topic for a possible discount code

I've got GAP with ALA, used them for my Golf R as well.

I think from memory the PH discount is only 15% - use code MSE25 from MoneySavingExpert to get 25%. That said, they price-matched totallossgap.co.uk (who were cheaper) and mine was £118 for the 2 years in the end. The guy I dealt with there was great - happy to share his details but would be unreasonable to do so publicly here; feel free to PM me.

Thanks - I'll have a look…..

Also...Car goes into BMW Liverpool tomorrow to have the B pillar issue corrected - I hope their aware of the issue and swap out the clips double pronto - I also have to pay £15 for the courtesy car - no idea what ill end up with and for how long.

Have an intermittent fault with the sound when using the radio, spotify etc in that all the bass disappears so ill be reporting that too.

Ooh, I thought I was imagining things! Had that happen a couple of times, will have to see if it's the same track every time. I genuinely wasn't sure if it was just part of the track but it definitely dropped the bass right out a few times over the last couple of weeks.

The B-pillar 'fix' - if they're simply swapping the trim clips for the 'beefier' ones - is literally a 60-second job and could be done in the car park outside (as that's where I did mine). Mine's come away once again since I changed them but it's not actually broken the clips and it's popped back in. I'm just always really careful getting in these days.

Still underwhelmed by the QC for such an expensive car to be honest...

Didn't have to pay the £15 for the courtesy car in the end, gave me a 220i convertible :-(
