I still have an intermittent problem with the music system loosing all bass from start up - some times you get in all is fine, other times you just have tinny music regardless of which source. Its now happening more often than not so I may book it into the dealer but that's such a fath at the moment - any one else had the same issue and found a fix ? I'm thinking its the way the phone connects to the car but I really don't know as I've tried various ways to fix and nothing works.... I can only leave the car and next time I come back to it hope it fixed itself with now limited success :-(
I did have this a few times but I've not noticed it happening recently. That said, I've barely driven the car since before Christmas unfortunately so not many instances for the issue to occur.Funk said:

If you're at that stage then that's good; it's downloaded everything it needs and it will eventually install itself - you just need to be patient unfortunately. I think it does a load of stuff quietly in the background getting ready and then triggers when it's good to go.
The message from whoever replied to you was nonsensical. I know it's frustrating but you just need to forget about it and it'll just pop up one day saying it's now good to install.

That’s BMW Chigwell. I had given my car in, told them to update the software, which they claimed they did. Only to find they didn’t. The email is then trying to think I was born yesterday explaining that apparently I am on the latest software already and that message I’m getting is erroneous. My front rubber splitter / mud guard (?) fell off - luckily when I was cleaning the car so recovered but not felt the need to refit as it’s looked to have rubbed over the odd none compliant supermarket speed bump - anyone know if actually has a use or is it there just for aesthetics ?

Mine came off within 3 months, been in the boot since. Looks better without and can’t work out what purpose it serves. My 840i had to go to the dealers today (north Oxford Bmw).. Brakes had stuck on, got them released but now getting vibration. Dealers advised needs pads and discs all around due to corrosion, refused any warranty claim.
Car is 10 months old, has done 3k and is always garaged,
Not happy
Thanks

Might be worth getting an on-vehicle disk skim done and see if that solves it.
I remember this being an issue back in the day with the AP big brake kit for Monaros - something about the type of iron used in the disks and the nature of the pads meant this happened much quicker than you'd have expected.
I've been taking both our cars out weekly to warm them through, charge batteries and clean up brakes. The amount of condensation that builds up in an old at-rest MX5 over winter is not healthy.

So, after less than 4000 miles of my 24k (pre lockdown) agreement I'm pondering the idea of a replacement for when it hits the 2 year handback. Ridiculously early to think about this but the car I'm looking at is a GR Yaris currently with 12 month plus wait lists.... Would I be mental?! I am loving 'The 8', but curious as to whether the plucky little toyota would be the perfect contrast?!
