Well I have it.... Absolutely stunning condition. Drove 60 miles home. Only concern is that braking from 65-70 hard makes the steering wheel vibrate a little bit. Assuming it’s just brakes or tyres so I’ll get that sorted and looked at. Drives really well. Engine sounds lovely and so far so good. So unless it dumps oil and coolant all over itself then I’m very happy. Everything works
I simply don’t understand how a 3 litre straight 6 in this condition is worth less than £5k! I guess it’s the running costs and potential for an immediate 4 figure bill if something breaks

Glad you got it and enjoying it so far, I’ve had some many different cars but this one just gets under my skin, I love it and every time I drive it I think what a cracking car they are. Judder under braking is most likely front discs and pads, or rusty discs from low use. Most cars for sale at the moment have sat around for a fair while now, try a few decent stomp on the brakes to clear the discs up.
Engine on these is lovely, not the fastest but plenty enough for modern traffic. I find the Sport button adds quite a bit of character if you want to press on, however throttle response is waaaaay too sensitive once you to spend and cruising. It makes you lurch all over the show with slight inputs. Sound wise they are perfect, a drop in panel filter will help release even more of the induction noise I suspect. I personally am not interested in back box deletes and all other daft methods of making more noise... cruising long distance in mine is fantastic without any drone or deafening sounds.
Regarding 4 figure bills, the N52 engine dormant really have any major issues that aren’t DIY’able. That being said I still have leak on mine which looks like it’s going to be sump off, doesn’t look particularly fun. It’s had a new sump gasket that appears to be recent, but there is a small section near gearbox that weeps no matter how much I tighten the bolts.
PS, get some pics up.... it’s the law !!
All the best

Wot he said. I feel daft taking photos. There’s one! I’ll take some more in a more suitable surrounding! For the first time in what must be years I’ve just gone for a pointless drive.... love it!
Redish Autosport are not far from me. I’ll take it there for a check and see what they recommend in the way of work.

Most BMWs with a 3 litre N52 look like bargains these days for what is such a great engine.
Congrats Op, interesting thread..& that looks a very nice example..great colour!
Have owned my ‘06 630 2 years now and still enjoying the ownership. Cars at 80k now, the only issues so far being a wheel bearing, and I recently replaced the battery after a few ‘excessive battery discharge’ warnings. I also took out BMW Approved warranty at the beginning of the year for a bit more peace of mind.
Enjoy your new purchase

Here is another of mine in stratus grey. Very happy after one month. Few things to fix, air con is nothing but hot air, wobbly braking from 65mph and the BMW door lights do not illuminate and the stereo is so bad I swear it’s broken.. but very happy with everything else
Hope the viewing goes well and you get to drive home in a new car!
Swapped the cream mats for some eBay specials in Black. These actually seem to be better quality. I’ll shampoo the cream ones and keep as spare

Going to view a 630i on Saturday. Stratus Grey, nice spec. Will keep you guys updated.
Wow - how many straight 6 petrol BMWs does one household need? Anyway I hope the viewing goes well.
Still got the (E92) M3 on the list but watching prices closely. Will be interesting to see how they go towards the end of the year.

I'm afraid I'll be a bit of a copycat as the one I'm looking at is the same (very nice!) colour combo and same alloys!
Apart from the 'niggles' how are you finding the car on a day to day basis?

The answer is always: one more. This may or may not replace the E46. Still got the (E92) M3 on the list but watching prices closely. Will be interesting to see how they go towards the end of the year.
Good luck! Hope it goes well. I’ll be back later for some good news I hope
You asked how I was getting on. I love it. I’ve only completed short journeys so far because I’ve not been to the office since the end of March. I’ve not had this engine before and I think it’s fantastic, although I’ve not really driven much to compare. Ive given it a good go on the local ring roads and it seems to have no problems with the gearbox changing through on sport mode or normal. Very quick car for me at least. I was out in the rain yesterday and I felt that the front felt very light. I tip toed around some roundabouts. Not sure if that’s normal in a car this size.
I’ve seen between 18mpg and 40mpg on my short trips.
They feel very small inside given its external size. I’ve come from a 2018 a4 avant black edition and I don’t miss it at all (apart from the 3D B&O)
I turn around to look at it after I park, I look at it in window reflections and I got a wave from a nice lady in her 2008 6er as we passed in traffic a few days ago. I don’t see many on the roads and I’m chuffed to bits with it. The body is in such great condition that I worry about where I park it so I take my shed Focus for most trips.
I have no idea why I’ve been spending £3000 down payment and £300 a month on newer stuff. I’m Hooked so much that I’m currently watching some old 3.0 z4 on eBay and cleaning my garage but I’ll have to get rid of one car before I do that. Found this video of them being manufactured

And I thought I had a BMW addiction.
The addiction continues. Stratus Grey over Pearl Creambeige.
Pro Nav
Heated seats
Pro Hifi
HUD
Active Steering (something to go wrong!)
Adaptive Headlights (more things to go wrong).
Unfortunately no panoramic roof but beggars/choosers etc. Put a deposit down, will probably collect at some point next week.

Delighted to hear you're enjoying yours.
Totally makes sense to get the Z4 as well (instead of)...obviously.

This is great news! Did you look at many others or have you had one before?
Did you get chance to drive it far?
Thanks. I looked at one a few months back when I was toying with the idea. That one was a bit tatty and put me off tbh.Did you get chance to drive it far?
The more I see them in person, the more I just love the styling. Bangle really smashed it. I think I'll need to buy an E60 now as well.
Didn't drive it too far. Hopefully it won't break down on the 60 mile journey home next week.
