Had 12 new BMWs never failed to beat the Broadspeed price at the dealer so take that as your starting point.

Anyone know why the x40i is around £3,000 more than the exact same spec in 30d Diesel?

Yes, I did explain this to you on another of your threads:

The 40i = the 40d both have 340hp and are within a whisker of each other price wise, the 30d is a lower model (the entry level) less power = cheaper, they don't sell a 30i in the UK if they did the price would be similar to the 30d.

I'd happily pay the extra £3k to not have to listen to the rattly diesel engine noise! hehe

Isn't the 40i model the equivalent of the 40d model, and therefore the 30d is the lower cheaper model?

ETA...Wills2 beat me to it. thumbup

Ah cheers Wills2, that explains it then.

Plenty of 30d's out there available but now trying to get a good price on them. Like i said previously, one showroom has 9 identicle 30ds and wouldn't entertain a £1 off the price, crazy.

I’m pretty sure that Broadspeed started the whole online vehicle discounting thing in the UK. If not, they were certainly one of the first businesses in the game.

They were, a very good starting point with the dealers.

Well depending on whether you're paying up front of financing (or a bit of both) you might want to look at a new one compare that to the used pricing and do some calculations.

Did you compare the pricing on the 9 30ds they had to the market? If they are priced to sell then they won't discount them, but that doesn't mean the deal is poor.

sorry bit late to the party on the mpg thing here, but ive had 2 x 540i XDrives, they averaged 22-25mpg mixed around town/A Road/Mway driving. Of course i could get better at motorway speeds.
Before that i come from a long line of BMW diesels, 20d/30d/35d/40d/50d, and as good as the 40i engine is, and it really is a peach, id still take a straight 6 BMW diesel engine over it, just for the low down grunt alone, which seems to suit big heavy cars more than the 40i. Now 50i would be a different question. The problem is theBM 6 diesel is simply the best diesel engine on the planet in my opinion and damn hard to beat, personally i think it sounds incredible for a diesel as well.
each to his own i guess. the new 40d X5 looks like the sweet spot for me though

IKR? Maybe cheap lease deals? Not sure, but the 30d can hit 40mpg for those that are interested, which is pretty damn good I think

thanks for this. I think i'm more concerned with depreication as i am buying out right, not leasing, and whilst both Petrol and Diesel will depreciate massively in the coming years, it's clear Diesel already dropping quicker. Chuck in that some cities/towns are implementing diesel penalties, it's solely for that reason i'm pushed to the Petrol and not Diesel.
