Hi all I've got a 2008 e65 which has an aux input as standard.

I've tried using both an aux cable and an mpow Bluetooth receiver to stream Spotify from my galaxy s10 but the sound quality is so bad it's actually unusable. I've also tried my wife's iPhone with the same results.

Any ideas what could be the issue?

Its just terrible.

IIRC BMW put some kind of limiter on the aux input so it is quite "restricted" in volume and quality.

Search for road and race on YT, he did a video on his 5 series where he modded his aux input and it made quite the difference according to him.

I have the same issue on my E93.

Thanks I'll have a look, I fitted a connects2 Bluetooth adapter to my e60 and the sound quality was ok much better than the e65 aux port

This one https://www.incarconnections.co.uk/bmw-bluetooth-a...

I'm wondering if the issue is with the aux cables themselves from the port to the head unit as you disconnect them to fit the connects2 on the e60, might just be the same for the e65?

For some strange reason BMW has fitted inline filter into the aux cable. You need to take the cable out, remove the offender and resolder the wires.

Quick update, thanks sohaib for the heads up on the road and race vid.

I removed the port and the circuit board and discovered what looked like a bit of a mess caused by someone previously.

I took the aux port out the e60 as it has the connects2 in the dash anyway.

They were slightly different but luckily the circuit boards were the same. I removed the resistors same as the road and race guy, refitted and result the sound is transformed!

I tried it with just a cable and then with the Bluetooth receiver and noticed no difference in sound which is good as I don't have to mess about plugging in or having exposed cables.
