Hi all

Thinking of buying a 6 month old X4 m40i with little mileage. I can see that the car was registered in Oct 2019 as new and has been without tax since the beginning of the year. Sticker price is £40k. I will buy car outright, what are the chances that the BMW dealer will let it go for £35/36k. Really trying to gauge level of discount a main dealer would offer of the sticker price.

Thanks in advance.

You can wait a few days for a reply on here, then ring a dealer up, and tell ‘em someone on PistonHeads has told you, that said dealer will give a £4-5k discount.

Or, you could ring the dealer up now, offer them £35k, and get it all out of the way by 1pm.

Cash sale no chance, finance sale maybe.

There was someone looking at buying an x5 for cash and they wouldnt move on price.

Good choice though we ve got the X4 30d, and thats where im thinking of heading next 40I or 40D

Zero chance, forget it (speaking from personal experience on a similarly priced car from a BMW dealer). I had to pay sticker price, they wouldn't budge at all.

You’d be Lucky if you get £500 off.

This.

Used cars are priced to sell or you get zero interest. A couple of hundred quid off would be a result in today’s climate. Good luck!

Wife got £6k off an i8 that was up at £56k. Was on our way to look at one in Boston and got a call from my local dealer in Kings Lynn about one that had just come in. Boston's car was £50k, slightly older, lower spec. and much higher mileage. Diverted and an hour later had done the deal on a better car in her 1st choice colour. They just matched the price. Same group as well so prob. upset someone at Boston. Helped it was the end of the 1/4, cash sale and they know us pretty well. Think we've prob. had 6 or 7 cars off them in the last 10 years. Imo deals are to be had on the right car. Put an offer in and see what happens, all they can say is no. I'm a landlord and hardly anyone tries to negotiate a discount, always amazes me.

I think we’re talking today, this month, as used prices are on the up.

Was the i8 a recent purchase ?

I got my 335i touring for £33k down from £39k.

I got my A6 3.2 Quattro Avant for £13k instead of £23k back in 2010.

That was then.....and this is now!

Prices are silly high, dealers are paying retail to other dealers to get stock and try and make £500.

Weird times.

But ask, you never know. They may really want that out of the door.
