Hi guys wondering if you can help me I’ve got a 320d m sport touring at 47k miles with 2 years warranty left and I’ve had a major service done today by my dads garage (vat registered) and bought the parts from bmw main dealer so I have the receipt which is in line with bmw warranty rules but we’ve got an issue my dad hasn’t got the software to update the service history on I drive is this a problem with warranty not being on I drive? Also I’ve noticed other bmw specialists update the bmw data base of a service being done does this need to be done to be in line with warranty rules? Very confused thanks In advance

If you want the definitive answer , email the Bmw warranty team.
But on my paperwork (Bmw Insured warranty) one of the terms says service records must be kept up to date with receipts as proof.

I would therefore read this as you’re fine as you have the receipt, AKA “ the proof” even if your iDrive is not updated.

Thanks for the reply, so I should be fine with receipt for parts off BMW Williams and a Labour receipt off my dad for conducting the work even though it says £0. So say if worse comes to worse and my engine blows up they’d accept Parts and Labour receipts as proof. I think I’ll want to update the I drive out of a ocd habit to keep my car up to date I’ve reset all service miles to 18k or two years which ever comes first on the cars dash board which was quite easy

Hi,
Your dads garage can register for the AOS portal and add the service details onto it manually. Then the data can be loaded onto the car at a later date by either a main dealer or another garage that uses the genuine software and hardware through the AOS portal.
The main thing is to register and then enter the service manually. This can even be backdated slightly.

Definitely worth updating , for resale.
I don’t have the technical knowledge to know what this portal is. But I have witnessed BMW refusing a customer’s request to update iDrive when another garage (a generic main dealership ) performed the service.
So I’d hedge my bets on an independent doing the upload.

It’s people who modify / map engines who get engine warranty claims denied in my knowledge. My father’s friend owned a non specialist garage, serviced all BMWs and they still went to the dealer for warranty claims.

Bmw Warranty are very fair in my experience , so if a dealer ever quibbles , deal direct with them on any warranty matter. I’ve been known to go to them first if I’m not sure something is covered.
