Replaced the mismatched boot lamp clusters (nearside was incorrect and offside had faded).

Replaced the scratched ashtray and storage unit (not perfect but an improvement).

How much hassle was replacing the ashtray lid & storage unit? I need to do mine in the CSL.

convince myself i dont need a hybrid turbo and a uprated intercooler
That's easy, watch this: https://youtu.be/RmbX3ObXGmw

The 20d is an engine all about economy, if you want more power get a six cylinder. The 20d will always be slow and sound rubbish.

A bit of a faff to release the trim around the gear stick, but after that removal of a few screws:

It is possible to replace the two lids /doors without removing the unit, but I decided to replace the whole thing.

Not today, but picked up another F11 535d so had a few jobs to do on it. Fitted the MMi box, gave it a full service and took care of a couple of other little jobs.

Still got a decent list of things i need to do!
What is a good carplay box these days for an F11 with NBT?

They’re all pretty much just clones of each other, all from China don’t listen to most of the suppliers they will deny it and chatting up their arse.

However, and luckily, the product itself is good, with not too much variation in quality. So no problems there.

The BMW groups swear by Droid UK, again, just clones so I assume its because its become well known now.

Don’t bother with all the add ons. Quality wifi antenna, decent mic and a proper installation is all you need for a hassle-free product.

I don’t have one of them, Kuba-x86 on Bimmerpost coded in native CarPlay for me (2017 on) but my mate has a Droid UK one and it is generally pretty decent, it does have a few little foibles like poor mic quality, occasional connection issues etc but obviously the actual CarPlay interface is made by Apple so not really any issues there

First tip run done in the touring and it played a blinder...

Back seats flat, large tarp covers the loadspace perfectly and jammed it full of crap from the garage & greenhouse...

It'll get loaded tomorrow morning with compost and seeding trays for the greenhouse...

Itll get a full clean after that

Booked in to have this sorted. Has anyone else had this?

I think it's most likely a battery which hides in the shark fin which means roof lining out :-( and batteries aren't covered by the BMW Allianz warranty apparently.

I had it a few months back in my 340i. The battery was about £50. In my case I could reach it by unclipping a small part of the roof lining to access and replace the battery, easily done on a 3 series but I guess depends on your model. I then had the fault coded out for £20.

Started stage one of the post winter detail….

Wheel arches and wheels deep cleaned, arches etc dressed and then I ceramic coated the wheels.

Hoping the weather holds tomorrow so I can sort the paintwork.

Looking good Sam

Glad I did the arches the other week when I swapped back to the summer wheels; it's quite a satisfying job, no one will ever see it, but you know it's done biggrin

I'm hoping to give the F31 a solid clean inside and wash today but it's blowing a hoolie (makes washing it a PITA) so may leave that for tomorrow and just sort the interior today

Sams car detailing has spurred me on to get the interior deep-cleaned this morning wink

Full interior detail this morning; it's all about my broken body can take currently laugh

Carpets thoroughly hoovered, plastics and seat based/sides treated with APC solution and a detailing brush; all wiped down again and then carpets Autoglym Interior Shampoo'd and a stiff bristle brush attachment on for the cordless drill did the hard work.

All wiped down again, re-hoovered and then mats hoovered and brushed, makes my OCD very happy biggrin

All leather wiped down and treated with Megs Leather Conditioner; interior hard surfaces wiped down with AGs Vinyl & Rubber care as it dries matte and doesn't leave any residue wink

Try Dr Leather wipes on the steering wheel. Transformed mine which was showing 76k worth of use.

Expensive, but regular use of it on the interior keeps it looking like brand new.

Live action pic. Currently needs its application laugh

Wheel has come up well; never seen those wipes before!

I need to do mine; just ordered a magic eraser block; will give it a good wipe down with a piece of that and APC first & see how that goes...

Don't use a magic eraser on leather, it removes the finish rather than cleans it. Google will show the results.

Ah; never knew that! Never had an issue before; always found it clean the wheel well... But never went at it hard/aggressive etc

The weather wasn’t helpful this morning, so I didn’t get round to finishing my post winter clean.

I did take advantage of the car being on stands and higher than usual to detail the hard to get areas; skirts and bumpers. The boot lid got done too.

Clayed to remove tar etc, Menzerna 2400 polish, Menzerna 3800 finishing polish, glazed and two coats of Fusso coat applied. The rest of the car was gone over with QD.
