Front tyres need replacing on the 630, so going to make the change to non RFT. The right rear seems to lose air every 2-3 weeks. I'm worried it could be cracked so will need to check that over at some point before I commit to the RFTs on the rear.

Is the car going to handle terribly with non RFT at the front the RFT on the rear?
I wouldn't personally, as BMW's have never got on very well with mismatched tyres front to back, and I can't imagine the variation in sidewall stiffness will do it the world of good.

I swapped all 4 on mine, and I had the same issue with my front left leaking air, would get the warning light every 3 weeks. The place I got them fitted cleaned the rim, now it's every couple of months or so.

I’ve never done it, but there are others who have and said it was fine / they didn’t die in a ball of flames which is what many will say will happen. A friend has done it in his MINI and BMW’s and didn’t seem to notice too much difference.

Worst case is it’s crap hand you have to ditch the fronts as well. They’re awful things; my other half’s 125i was transformed with a swap to normal tyres.
I've mentioned before on the E91, it had the OE (star marked) Bridgestone RE050A tyres and they were properly crap. The Goodyear Eagle F1 RFTs that replaced them are much better.

What I don't want to happen is put the 4x Michelin PS4s on the car, and the right rear goes flat and damages the tyre. I know the 19s on this are prone to cracking.

If it's just a poor seal, I'd be delighted. I suppose the best option is to take it to a tyre place so they can take the have a look at the wheel properly with the tyre removed and see what's what.

Picked up the torx bolts for the E91 rear shocks from the local BMW dealer and they had a new 4 Series parked up.

It actually doesn't look that bad in black tbf. Still not sold on the rear 3/4.

I have Bridgestone RE050A on my e91 330d, it had them when I purchased it and i've stuck with them. Having driven a number of 330d's at the time all with RFTs I couldn't note any difference on test drives. I've found them a reasonably priced, good all round tyre and they also have a decent shaped sidewall so that if the other half has the car there is less risk of kerb grazes

Best thing I ever did was to remove the RE050A's on my 125i. Massively improved the ride, and more importantly traction - with the RE050A's I was seeing the little yellow flicker quite a lot, and if it snowed the car was officially beached. Switched to PS4's and it was much better - traction in all conditions was superb, and it was even semi-useful on snow (as long as I didn't try too many big hills).

Probably less noticeable on the E90 which rides notably better than my 1 Series - although in fairness most things do hehe

Sytner have a white one out the front. The grille looks ridiculous but it doesn’t look quite so slab sided. There’s still too much metal above the rear wheels though.

Just realised the MOT on my Z4 expired in January! TBF, it hasn't moved from the garage since late last summer.

630 had the bumper realigned yesterday, looks spot on.

Received a recall notice for my 2008 125i, suggesting I needed some part of the blower fixed before it goes on fire.

Which is nice.

My 3 series had it done last year. Pre pandemic it was easy, I went in and waited on it. Declined the wash. No clue that they'd been in there, they weren't phased my car had a couple of retrofits and it took a couple of hours, tops.

I think it's still 'to do' on our E91...given recent experiences, would prefer to avoid having the car set on fire.

To be fair I'm actually more impressed that they are doing this for cars built 15 years ago, I suspect a few manufacturers would have left it as most of the cars from that era are now in the scrappy.

Says I will get another letter in 4 - 8 weeks when parts are available so I can book in. Spoke to my mechanic and he said not to worry as long as the blower is working properly (which it is, albeit it does sound like it "pulses" occasionally).

As it is, after 6 years with the car the only time I've had to take it back to BMW is for 3 recalls - this, the fusebox one and the rear light cluster issue on E82's. I'd say that's pretty decent going for a 13 year old car.

I was also impressed when I got passenger and driver airbag recalls for my 2002 E46 Compact in 2015 and 2017, as well as the heater fan recall for my E91 in 2018 and my current E90 in 2019.

Then I read this:- https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Call me cynical, but I can't help thinking BMW put all those issues off as long as possible so there would be lower numbers needing a free fix as time went by!

Just need to stop my E90 catching fire now. eek

Took my other 125i in for the recall a few weeks ago once it was announced. I’m guessing that you’ll be waiting a bit because there’s currently a shortage of parts.

They were pretty good when I took mine in, although they did try a few upsells. The tech did compliment its condition though.

It seems to be a common problem on BMWs of that era.

My E91 had a recall in 2018 for the same issue. I replaced it with an E90 in 2019 and had the same recall job done.

I think one of the "X" models was also subject to it.

Nerded out cleaning her 125 cab.

I’ve not had chance to get stuck into the paint since we collected it and the contamination was making my teeth itch. So....

Citrus prewash followed by snow foam
Washed and dried
Chemical decontamination (Car Pro Trix and Bilt Hamber Korrosol)
Washed and dried again
Clayed
Two staged polish (green hexlogic pad with Menzerna 2500 polish followed by white hexlogic pad with Menzerna 3800 polish)
Auto Finesse glaze
Two coats of Dodo Juice Supernatural
Glass cleaned
Tyres dressed
Interior had a quick once over

It looks pretty good for a 12 year old car

Looks ace. Pretty sure I've owned cars for an extended period of time without doing that many cleaning-related things to them.

Does look great. cool

Must admit, have become v lazy re washing cars. Doesn't help we have an 18 month child who won't sleep so mostly knackered at the weekend. However, a proper wash/clean does take time (shampoo, polish, wax + wheels etc). I don't trust to take the cars to any local handwash places as I'd rather the car be dirty than covered in scratches.

Neighbour had his 911 and Macan ceramic coated and with a quick power wash, comes up looking great. Something I'd seriously consider.
