I put £100.03 in the Z4 the other day, got 190 miles.

Still, 3rd gear sounds lovely at the top end

This is why I needed to get the E91 fixed and back on wife's daily drive duty as soon as possible!

X5 with the V8, 85 litre fuel tank and 20mpg was not v economical!
Yeah, sod that!

Cost me £90 to fill the 125i last time, which is looking to do about 270 miles, so not great, not terrible.

In better news, I've just driven it in the rain for the first time since having the Pilot Sport 5s fitted to the rear, and wow - colour me impressed. I've had the SuperSports spin up just pulling away from my drive before now in the wet, but these just grip with little fuss. Add in how much quieter they are than the old ones, I'd say these were highly recommended, if a little pricey (just over £200 a corner for 255/35).

I put £99 in the M6 a few weeks ago. I'm way past halfway to empty and have done less than 100 miles. I'll probably get another 30 miles before I will up again. This is beyond expensive now haha.

But 8000rpm noises etc ....can't help myself.

I must admit, I’d never bought the car to be sensible in, but at £2/litre I do find myself pottering a bit more, granny shifting etc. Until a set of lights or a good straight hehe

Boot strut replacement on the E91.

Unsurprisingly, this one wasn't holding any pressure. biggrin

Mine looked like that when I changed them too. Easy job and makes a difference. I genuinely don’t think I’d stand an electric bootlid- thinks for itself, deciding if it will or won’t close when I’m ambitious with the loading up, too slow, additional pointless weight, I can’t see the advantage?

I can open the boot while walking up to the car and close it by pressing a button. But yes, not sure if the real benefit as it’s much slower than opening it yourself.

It’s one of those things that you don’t need, but once you have it, you find you use it all the time. Very useful for opening and closing when it’s wet and dirty, you don’t get your hands dirty at all smile

Put £35 of diesel in the 120d and saying I will get 265 miles from that - another reason to keep hold of it for now. Offsets the X6 that takes £80 to get to half a tank and does about 23mpg frown

I heard my car properly from outside yesterday and it sounds pretty good….

We went to a friends house and my little boy wanted to ride his bike there. I didn’t think he’d back the ride back so my other half drove abs when she drove past it sounded pretty good. From inside the N54 sounds a but grumpy.

Mine is in for MOT at the moment. They did a health check that picked up on a tie rod bush that is worn, so that was sorted under warranty... But the seized control arm was not grumpy

Still, probably pass now without any advisories!

Made a new distributor gasket as they are NLA from BMW and no one else makes them. Not perfect, but better than nothing, which is the current state.

Oil service and BFC.

Countdown reset to 15500 remaining and the INSPECTION word looming. Next one is inspection II eek

Spoke to a body shop (next door) and he said £500 to spray the front bumper, fill a few marks and buff it. I am sort of preping to sell, but I don't know if I can bring my self to it. Even the mechanic said it's a good OEM example, only going one way. banghead But, if the right 2002 came along...

Two weeks into E46 ownership:

1. Oil filter, air filter, spark plugs changed today + air conditioning service (the compressor is working fine but the air flow was not cold) all fixed and air is icy cold.

2. The c-pillar flap covers were not working and remained in this position:

After watching a few YouTube clips I discovered the return springs (both sides) had long since departed. An ebay purchase of two new springs (£11.82) and some skinning of knuckles later all is sorted. The springs attach to the underside of the flap covers, and over the years the retaining holes have cracked, but with a couple of washers and some gentle 'persuasion' they are working perfectly.

3. DVLA have been very efficient - I received the new owner V5 within 2 days and the tansfer of my late Mum's number plate to the car was completed at the beginning of this week.

4. Next on the list is to clean and treat the roof:

I have owned my (F30) 330d xDrive for a few months now and have enjoyed it but I do have a question or two!

1) The DAB reception is bad, some days it’s OK and other days I am barely getting a signal anywhere, even on routes where I had signal the day before.

Is this a BMW trait that I have will have to live with ( I admit is a first world problem ) or are there any tips to improve the DAB experience?

2) I would like to replace the tyres in the near future, I heard that star rated tyres are needed on BM’s and in particular, the xDrive models. Is that correct?
