Installed the GROM BT3 in the E39, so much better than the cheapo FM transmitter I have been using! Only mild faffage routing the mic from the drivers side a pillar all the way back to the boot.

Lovely stuff.

It's so easy to do in the touring, fitted the Grom kit in my 540i Sport saloon the other weekend and it's a lot more faffy (rear seats out, drilling holes in the grommets etc)

Got it covered in st - literally. We had a blocked drain issue which Homeserve sorted, then the wife thought she'd pressure wash the drive round where the blocked drain was, and didn't think to move the car first.....

Much better, more productive morning on the car today tackling the oil filter and cooler gaskets.

The oil cooler was the main culprit for leaking and and was really grimy underneath. Both gaskets were very hard and had seen better days. I think someone had tried to stop the leak by doing the cooler bolts up….very very tight rather than 16nm.

Sunny this week, so will be driving the Z4 to work.

Out of interest, how difficult is it to change the PCV on the (silver top) N52?

Sort of neglected mine recently as I just kept putting off cleaning it until ‘next week’ which became about 4 months it was filthy! So dropped it off at a local detailer yesterday and it’s back to gleaming.
With the nice door dent a van did in my works car park and did a runner, now showing up extra obvious laugh so il need to get that sorted soon.

Got a large list of mods to go on in the next couple weeks and then it’s done, no more spending….. probably.

When someone last did them on my car, they did them far too tight, too. I wasn’t so lucky, and when I re-torqued them the threads pulled. Fortunately the top two can be nutted and bolted, and the bottom one was okay.

It’s not an awful one, But fiddly and probably a few day job doing a couple of hours of an evening.

I think you’ll have more room in a Z4, as I recall there’s a lot more room behind the engine. I’d probably get new manifold gaskets and a throttle body gasket.

It's for the E91...there's something not 100% with it at the moment and I'm not too sure.

Idle could be smoother IMO, occasionally can feel a bit 'pulsey' if that makes sense. Seems to be worse when the car is hot.

I've also had one or two weird situations when I've nailed the throttle to nip out for a gap and it's as though the power has been totally cut (not because of the traction control I hasten to add). Seems to be especially if doing right hand turns out of a junction (happened on x3 occasions in last number of months, but also 1x for straight across).

Could it be a MAF issue?

The only codes I've got are: 29F5 and 29F4. No EML.

(I'll post in the E91 beard thread as well)

Washed whilst it's very warm, but dull here

Also listed the Style 37s for sale; going to go back to 17" staggered Style 66s or 32s I think. Just prefer how the car looks & handles on 17s personally; plus tyres are cheaper and when the shocks/springs and rear E39 M5 rear ARB has been fitted; it'll handle and drive superbly thumbupwink

Roof cleaned earlier today.

Removed algae and 21 years worth of dirt (the previous owner had used a jet wash and this left a number of marks) + two coats of water proof sealer.

Sorted out the various suspension components that I’ve accumulated ready to fit to my 335i this weekend. I was even sad enough to label up the right and left hand components to make my life easier.

Also ordered the last few bits; E36 M3 front bump stops, Z4M rear bump stops (bloody expensive) and an E92 xenon levelling rod.

The new vent pipe should be here tomorrow so I can get the 125i back together.

They're already on eBay pal and the E39 groups on FB & yes, absolutely they're genuine BMW

Higher priced on eBay to cover the fees etc; but happy to reduce the price for anyone on the forums etc smile

Nothing sad with that Sam smile

When I do stuff like that, I line it all up etc haha

Which spring compressors do you use?

It’s quite daunting when it’s all load out! There are a lot of parts to get fitted.

Previously I tried some cheap Hilka ones but they were absolutely useless. I’ve just ordered a set of these which look better..

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07V1L9DVV/ref=redir_m...

If these are ste as well, I’ll see if a local garage will build the front assemblies up. I half toyed with buying a proper hydraulic jobbie but decided that it’d be overkill! hehe

I’m sure the offset is different
